Options for this 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible include: Automatic Convertible Top. Power Steering. Power Brakes. Seat Belts. Vinyl Interior. Raised White Letter Radial Tires. and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels. This 65' GTO is finished in a turquoise exterior paint. which looks perfect with the black vinyl top. The black vinyl interior featuring a center console is in good condition and ties the whole color combination together. Powering this 65' GTO convertible is the numbers matching 389 CID V8 engine which was rated at 335 horsepower when it left the assembly line. The engine was recently rebuilt and is now featuring a Tri Power intake manifold housing 3 sets of 2 barrel carburetors. The numbers matching Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission was picked to transfer the power to the rear end. and provides smooth and easy drivability. Modern Aluminum/Alloy wheels have been added and are wrapped in raised white letter radial tires. The GTO was produced by Pontiac from 1964 to 1974 and made a brief comeback in 2004 to 2006. Some consider the GTO responsible for the start of the muscle car craze. Although it was not the first muscle car. its styling. combined with its performance forced other domestic automakers to step up their game or be left behind in the dust. The 1965 GTO saw many changes. most notably were the headlights. the quad horizontal headlights were now quad vertical lights. The overall length grew 3. 1 inches while the wheelbase and interior remained unchanged. The 65' GTO also put on 100 lbs from the 1964 model. resulting in heavy duty shocks and a stronger front anti-sway bar being standard. The dashboard also received a design upgrade. and for an additional $86 you could order a rally gauge cluster that provided a more visible tachometer and oil pressure gauge.
