I purchased this Vanagon in Nashville TN from the guy who got it from the original owners estate.
It is in unbelievable condition for a 33 year old vehicle.
It is the 2. 0 litre air cooled engine with 4 spd trans.
It runs/drives/stops amazing. Very smooth to drive and comfortable. Paint is all original with minor dent/damage to drivers side as seen. Interior is as near to perfect as you can get. I have the middle seat. perfect as well.
The guy I got it from did the following:
--Tune up. points. plugs. cap. rotor. wires etc.
--Replaced fuel and vacuum lines as necessary.
--Installed Go Westy 15” wheel and tire set. (big $$$$!!)
--New windshield
I have since replaced/repaired the following:
--Speedometer Cable
--Clutch Slave Cylinder
--New Battery
--New voltage regulator
--New mirrors
--Visor clips
--Installed good used Jensen AM/FM cassette deck and two speakers under seats as well as new dash speaker
--All dome/dash lights working
--Installed Bamboo floor mat
--New rubber front floor mats
--New Front Grill
--New antenna
--Odometer repaired (mileage off about 1500 miles due to odometer being broken for about 4 months)
--Front blower motor not working. Have not investigated.
--Front bumper pad replaced
--New horn
--New windshield washer pump
--New GO Westy dash harness to replace fried old blue ribbon harness. This is a common Vanagon issue that will NO LONGER be a problem.
As I've been putting the miles on this Vanagon a small oil leaked started to develop into a much larger leak! Upon investigating I determined the oil cooler had a split seam. I could not. in good conscience sell the van with it leaking so badly. I decided to replace the cooler and. while under the Van I also replaced the parts listed below. It is now virtually LEAK-FREE. Not a DROP in the last few weeks since the repairs. I also cleaned and de-greased as much as I could access while under the van. It runs. drives. stops very smooooothly. Wonderful driver now and NO LEAKS!!!.
New stuff within the last 8 weeks:

---valve cover gaskets
---Oil filter and filter bracket gasket
---oil filler tube gasket
---New motor mounts
---New fan belt and screen
---Center strainer cleaning and new gasket
---Fresh oil change
---New engine compartment seal gasket
---New exhaust gaskets
---New rack and pinion boots
I also have a weekender rear seat/bed combo. side panels with folding table and jump seat in the blue/grey color that could be installed for camping.
I also have a full car cover for the Vanagon
