This is the loveliest little Cooper we have seen for quite a while. It is a 1967 Austin Mini Cooper Mk. 1 998cc. It is a rare UK RHD Home Market version. despatched on the 9th August 1967 and finished in Island Blue with Old English White Roof and Grey interior. It was sold new by Lankesters Ltd of Surbiton. The previous owner bought this car 16 years ago and has restored it superbly to his own exacting specification. It is a matching numbers example but some desirable and useable modifications.

During the restoration the engine was completely rebuilt by BL Motorsport. mildly breathed upon and has now been correctly run in and drives beautifully. It has been upgraded with S Brakes and wheels. adjustable front Shock absorbers etc. The body has been stotally restored and is totally rust free and correct. the interior is now luxurious Full Leather. to the correct pattern with factory supplied Recliners. Wilton Carpets front and rear and wooden steering wheel. I am sure you will agree. the car looks perfect.

Considered by automobile historians to be one of the most important and influential designs ever. the Austin/Morris Mini was in production for 40 years and today remains the most enduring icon of the British motor industry.
To many though - its designer Alec Issigonis included - the notion that the Mini might have a future as anything other than basic transport was anathema. and the idea of a high-performance version was laughable. One man though. saw it quite differently. Racing car manufacturer John Cooper already knew quite a bit about tuning BMC's A-Series engine - he was running the company's Formula Junior effort at the time - and a test drive in a prototype Mini convinced him of the car's competition potential. The result. launched in September 1961. was the Mini Cooper. a car that offered a size/price/performance package that was nothing short of miraculous. The Mini Cooper soon established its credentials as a rally and race winner. and the stage was set for even faster versions.

This is a great car. ticking every box. wonderfully restored and upgraded where necessary. it sits perfectly and comes from a long term ownership. it is taxed and MOT'd and ready for its new home. Please be quick at this price. It is a genuine Mk. 1 Cooper with matching numbers. comes with a nice history. and is a pleasure to own.
