Welcome to the reluctant sale of my very rare Jaguar MK 5 owing to lack of storage and too many cars. Taxed to April 2016 [free] and M-O-T exempt. Has been extensively restored by previous owner approx 3 years ago and subject to a complete nut and bolt body strip followed by a professional top quality respray in 2 tone Silver Mist and Graphite Grey Metallic. [Photo documented] Any required welding carried out to high standard. Can only be described as having just come out of the showroom. Complimenting this are re-chromed bumpers and excellent body trims. Slight signs of ageing to radiator and door handles but acceptable. Sun roof re-commissioned to full working order and completely waterproof. Seats have been re-upholstered at some time and are all still in good condition. Wood veneer slightly patchy but hardly noticeable. Door cards and carpets good. All windows in working order. Has lightly tinted rear door windows. unusual for this era. The car drives very well with beautiful sounding straight six engine and has excellent oil pressure. Smooth clutch. earbox OK [if not rushed]. Bear in mind this is the "Moss" box which was fitted to most models up to the early sixties. There is no synchromesh on 1st gear and does not take kindly to racing changes like a modern car. The rear axle does not have any diff whine. Recent brake overhaul including all new cylinders and linings. and for unassisted drums performance can best be described as adequate. Suspension has been re-polybushed and gives taut ride with no nasty cloncks. Also front torsion bars have been re-set to give correct ground clearance. Recent complete hand-made stainless exhaust system. Tyres are all good. Addition of electric water pump [thermostatically controlled] to improve circulation and guard against overheating. Retains the original semaphore indicators in working order supplemented with flashing indicators [ on seperate illuminated stalk] for safety reasons. These can be removed without trace to retain originality. All lights. instruments and gauges in working order including replacement petrol gauge. temperature gauge and rev-counter. New wiring loom throughout. Just serviced with new sparking plugs. leads and points. Engine. gearbox and axle oils all drained and re-filled with correct grades. Comes with original starting handle. wheel brace and wheel spat key plus Jaguar Workshop Manual [not Haynes] and a parts catalogue. The car has been in storage for most of the last 13 years prior to my ownership and only covered around 100 miles per year during this period. Was prizewinner at local show in July. Strongly recommend viewing and test run in case I have missed anything as being private sale can not offer any form of warranty. AA inspection also invited. Situated 1 mile from junction 16 of M6 [Stoke North/Crewe]. Can deliver up to 100 mile radius for cost of fuel and return train fare. [Subject to cleared funds]. To view any time phone Bill on 01270 876610 or 0779 60 66 800. Happy bidding
