1966 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MKIII PHASE II BJ8 for sale

This outstanding Austin Healey 3000 MKIII Phase II was manufactured in September 1966 and is finished in British Racing Green with Black leather trim and chrome wire wheels. This Big Healey has been rebuilt to a fabulous specification with a fast road high lift cam engine. triple weber carburettors and louvred wings and does have overdrive. Since being purchased from a Southern based Healey specialist in 2012. in the region of 1000 faultless miles have been covered and the car has arrived with us in outstanding condition.
HTL 133D was subject of a major restoration during the late 1980's/early 1990's. The cylinder head was ported and gas flowed by Queens University Belfast and it is reported that they dyno tested the car at 200BHP at the wheels. The vehicles history file includes a couple of photos showing the car with wings removed and at a stage close to completion and invoices are present for maintenance since restoration totalling in the region of £25. 00. A top Healey specialist refurbished the steering system. upgraded the cooling system and in 2003 rebuilt the gearbox and fitted an upgraded overdrive unit. They also fitted a two silencer box straight through BJ8 exhaust system. In December 2015/January 2016 the Healey was treated to a major strip down and re-paint to a top class standard. Various areas were taken down to bare metal and the Healey ferro-zinced. treated to one coat of etch primer. four primer coats. one guide coat. one black primer coat and finally four base coats and three lacquers resulting in a stunning glass paint finish.
This Austin Healey presents superbly with an excellent bodyshell and stunning paintwork due to the recent expenditure. The chrome work is first class including the chrome wire wheels. The hood and tonneau are in very good order and the Black leather upholstery is in fabulous. perfectly aged condition. The engine bay is well presented. as is the boot compartment and the underside of the vehicle smart and completely straight. On the road HJL 133D is truly outstanding. The fast road engine is powerful. offers excellent performance and it is clear from changing up and down the gearbox that the car has covered low mileage since the gearbox rebuild. The steering. braking and suspension systems are in excellent order and it can be said with confidence this is a finely detailed. usable condition one car. This Healey really should be driven. it is ideal for long distance touring. it would be an ideal car to use on the Continent and feels quick. strong. robust and is highly desirable in its fast road format. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a late BJ8 in outstanding condition throughout.
