We are truly privileged to offer to the market this fully restored & highly desirable  ‘round speedo' model which is a 500 ‘F'. It has an uprated 650cc engine & is showing a genuine mileage of only 84. 80 but having travelled circa only 50 test miles since an engine rebuild & full body restoration which has just been completed by Italian artisans. It's naturally an original UK supplied RHD model. showing only 6 former owners from new & was manufactured on 18th August 1972 at the Fiat factory & then dispatched to its first private owner in the South of England.

The story starts in the summer of 2015 whilst I was on holiday in Italy. I received a telephone call from a chap (Roly) back in Kent. stating that he had an old 500 in his garage that had been there for many years & if I promised to restore it to its former glory he would be willing to sell it to me. The vehicle belonged to his best friend Ian's Mum whilst the boys were at secondary school. Ian's dad had purchased the little Fiat from a local Peugeot dealership for his wife to use as a second car to ferry the boys to Scouts & other clubs. She ran the car for several years (up to late 1991) when the boys left secondary school. Then on one return journey from a local Scout meeting the brake pedal went straight to the floor & a big fright was had by all. Luckily nobody was injured & the car only suffered a dented nose. However she lost all confidence in the little Fiat & it was pushed into the garage without repair & left there to gather dust. Infact it was replaced with a 1300L Ford Escort the next week!

The boys however remained best friends despite the experience & a number of years later Ian mentioned in passing over a pint that the little Fait they used to love as boys was going to be sold as his Dad wanted his garage space back. Roly took a deep gulp & said. I will have it & restore it!

The Fiat was towed from its hibernation to Roly's then girlfriends Dads garage & parked up safely. That was on 5th March 1993. Well the supposed restoration lasted 2 weekends & consisted of taking the front injured panels off the car & the interior out!

Boredom & the magnitude of the task set in & life got in the way. The garage door was closed & the little Fiat forgotten. Roly has since got married to this then girlfriend. started a family & the little ‘Peril' as it was known was left to rest.

So that's when the call came in from Roly in the summer of 2015. with the need to regain his garage back & the realisation that the car would never get back on the road. He was very specific about it only going to somebody who knew what they were doing with such now cult classic cars & the deal was done with the promise to restore it & get it a new loving owner. so the next chapter of its life could commence. Indeed when collected the children had drawn eyes on the windscreen in the deep layer of dust. so the car actually looked like it had a personality. We took many pictures at this point. which are colour printed in the history file. So there is the tail. warts & all. It has taken Italian artisans in the north of Italy 10 months to restore the ‘Peril' to its former glory.

So in September 2015. we dispatched it back to its country or origin to undergone a complete body restoration. full internal refurbishment & engine rebuild to bring it up to a superb show quality standard. The process & key stages were photographed & these have been colour printed for the lovely history file which accompanies this most impressive vehicle.

This beautiful example is eminently usable as it has a 650cc motor. it drives & as good as it looks! We also now where the original motor is & this can be purchased if required.

The Italian artisan whom undertook the works embarked on a full pain staking restoration to show standard. Basically every thing has been reconditioned or replaced correctly. So in brief: Complete strip to bare shell. the shell & panels to be saved were then sandblasted. The floors panels were replaced along with the front wings. cills. battery tray & nose cone. The car was fully rewired. The engine was rebuilt as required & the gear box was overhauled. The handbrake cable was changed. all pedals refurbished. the petrol tank was fully refurbished and flushed. The interior was also fully and expertly retrimmed to match the existing period correct factory interior in red. piped cream along with the complete door card set & all interior trim was renewed. including the sunroof & roof frame. All other items of interior trim were refurbished or replaced. All lights were refurbished as required & the correct surrounds were machine polished. all rubber items were replaced including the door seals. window & side window seals. new bushes. nbsp; new struts. complete brake system overhaul & mostly replaced. reconditioned starter & a new exhaust. coil. battery. in fact every mechanical item was refurbished or if that was not possible replaced.

The bumpers & brackets were replaced. a new wing mirror fitted. fully shot blasted & refurbished original Fiat steel wheels. new matching tyres with white wall bands fitted. The car was fully primed & painted whilst stripped to bare shell (Inside & out) at this time. in the correct period shade of Fiat light blue that you see today.   In fact it looks as good underneath as it does on the top. as the underside was also fully painted to match the body colour.

This truly impressive example is just showing 84. 80 miles & only around 50 test miles since the restoration!

Since being back in the UK & in our possession. we have been meticulous in our final preparation prior to offering this exception example to the market by undertaking the following works: Fitted the correct F engine decal set. spare tyre strap. boot seal. engine rubber seal. heat shield pad. supplied a fresh MOT and conducted a multipoint check. Replaced the fuel with £25 of new super unleaded. Supplied a period 500 Key ring. ACI club sticker. front & rear period UK number plates. we also have the original UK number plates that accxompany the vehicle. We have even fitted a period luggage rack & period picnic hamper. The car is on the button & ready to go & show or just enjoy…

The vehicle comes with a lovely history file & contains: Original UK log book. Fresh current UK MOT. The last tax disc dated 31st January 1991 issued from Sevenoaks. Specialist parts invoices from Ricambio International Ltd. Auto Rossa original period parts list & catalogue. Copious photographs of the car as collected in September 2015 at Roly's home. The car presents as new looks & not dissimilar to when it originally left the factory in 1972. It's probably one of the prettiest examples in Europe for the price asked. This is a superb investment and has only driven less than 50 test miles since it's fully comprehensive restoration & hence this cheeky chappy has a fresh MOT & is being offered for sale for the first time in over 25 years.
