William Turnbull Slack (Bill) was the workshop foreman at Caffyns Jaguar Dealership in East Sussex in the late 1950's and into the 1960's. He assisted Colonel Rixon Bucknall with his well known Rixon Bucknall Special. On occasions he accompanied Colonel Bucknall on his European tours. During this period at the dealership Bill set about converting a 1954 Jaguar MK7 saloon into a 2 seater roadster.

The chassis was substantially shortened. the wheelbase reduced from 120" to 90" about the same as an MGB. The body was custom built to a very high standard in aluminium. riveted on a steel frame and the bulkhead is also steel. The car was purchased by the second owner and put into storage for 7 years. regularly started and kept in dry storage.

The car has now been meticulously re-commissioned to include the following; all fluids and filters renewed and greasing carried out; braking system completely overhauled; carburettors and choke; fuel system; electric system re-wired; new voltage regulator. full engine service. lugs. leads. cap etc. New Avon Turbo Speed tyres were also fitted. Original 3. 4 Jaguar Powerplant. All Jaguar MK7 running gear. Very smooth and runs beautifully.

There are receipts on file in excess of 10K has been spent keeping this car in top condition. All receipts present. Cosmetically the mud guards. radiator cowl. petrol tank. boot lid and wheels were taken back to bare metal and repainted in Jaguar Gunmetal. The rest of the body is polished aluminium. The car was professionally trimmed in Mulberry hide. carpets. mohair tonneau cover. Fantastic to drive and very quick. Historic registration and no road tax. A very interesting and unusual car. Genuine enquiries only please. Derbyshire.
