Registration Number BF 5784

Intended to broaden the marque's reach beyond the fabulously rich to the merely very wealthy. the Rolls-Royce 20HP was introduced in 1922. A more radical design than its illustrious 40/50HP Silver Ghost sibling. the newcomer was based around a 10ft 9in wheelbase ladder-frame chassis equipped with all-round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension. rear-wheel brakes and fully floating 'Hotchkiss Drive' back axle. The first Rolls-Royce engine to feature overhead

A Very Short History of this Particular Rolls Royce Motor Car

I was born on the 6th June 1926 and my Christening name was Rolls Royce Cabrio Open Tourer “Twenty” 20hp and my new job was cruising the streets of London's Kensington. Park Lane. Mayfair and all of the fashionable area's of the West End of  London

I knew that I was good looking and handsome and very special and I also knew that nowhere in the world did I have an equal. oh yes! I knew that I was over engineered. very posh. hand built and very much a one-off!

World War 2 came in 1939 and my life changed quiet considerably. I was put to all kinds of work by The War Department and after nearly 6 long years I was overworked and feeling very tired.

After the War. I was garaged in a farmer's barn in Suffolk. and to my surprise I was overtaken by hens and chickens that wanted to live with me and every morning they would leave me a present to let me know that they had had a good night's sleep and had enjoyed my company for the evening.

As the passage of time passed my life became very dull and uninteresting.

Then one day. two men arrived who had agreed to be my new owners and I was very excited and looked forward to my new home which would be in Essex.

My new owners were retired Journeymen who were very clever with their hands and had long lost skills and mechanical know how to get me up and running as good as new.

In their own time and over four years later. my wooden frame coachwork was replaced and along with the restoration of my aluminium body and completely rebuilding my engine they had me firing on all six cylinders again.

With a smile on their faces and seeing me looking so beautiful they took me for an MOT and I passed with flying colours at the age of nearly 87 years old!

I now spend my days in the Coach House of an old Victorian garden in The Royal Epping Forest. Essex.

I am now hoping that someone will buy me. and finish restoring me to my former glory someday soon.

Would you like to be my new custodian? (I am better than money in the bank).
