Land Rover Rare Original Diesel Airportable

What a privilege we have in being able to offer for sale a very special. unusual. most uncommon and therefore genuinely rare diesel Land Rover Lightweight. It was available for sale at the MoD Land Rover dispersal sale and we were very. very lucky indeed to bid high enough to get it. There was a lot of interest on the day but we managed to win it! This Lightweight Land Rover was sprayed with preserving wax and dry stored before being released almost 20yrs later. If you are looking for a truly original and unusual Land Rover then this example is not to be missed.

This Lightweight was built for the NATO Armed Forces (Royal Netherlands Army) and features a normally aspirated 2¼ diesel engine which is very. very unusual indeed because 99% of all the Lightweight's to come out of Land Rover were petrol variants. This particular Lightweight was demobbed in 1997 and has been dry stored awaiting clearance to sell

Nothing has been removed. nothing added except the preserving wax to prevent rust. The screen. Tilt frame and canvas Tilt were taken off to reduce storage space. The condition of this Land Rover is superb. Very straight original body panels. solid chassis. bulkhead. interior seats. dashboard. exhaust and under the bonnet. All the doors and bulkhead appear to have been drilled and filled with underseal by Royal Netherlands Army which has preserved them very well indeed.

This Land Rover has seen very little activity in real terms and is a modern day collectable military classic for showing or placing in the man cave (garage/whatever) just to enjoy. It is an appreciating asset since Lightweight's are uncommon in this original militarized condition. Totally untouched by civilian hands of ownership and therefore like the much sort after Belgian Minerva Series 1 Land Rover's this Lightweight is highly desirable and collectable classic Land Rover indeed.

This is your chance to buy a very special Land Rover indeed. We have fitted two brand new batteries and she started up without heat on 10seconds of cranking over which is unheard of for a 22/4 diesel Land Rover! The exhaust gases flowed with barely a tiny hint of blue smoke on the still clean 20yr old diesel fuel! The speedo shows 77. 75km (48. 65miles) however this cannot be verified but is thought to be correct. This is an original and appreciating asset which is set at a fair price.

You can test drive the Lightweight if you wish but you need to provide full and valid ID in the form of a Photo card driving licence and one utility bill. This Land Rover is a superb drive and is very easy to handle to the steering despite not having PAS. For a Series Land Rover. this one drives brilliantly.

The vehicle is unregistered at the moment with the DVLA. We will organize and pay the £55 fee for the buyer. The vehicle can stay with us until the V5 is issued and we will not charge for storage. We have done this before so be assured we are happy to this for you. All the documents will be sent to you because you will need to provide proof of ID to the DVLA for registration purposes.
