MGTD 1951 for full restoration – with original engine and only 2 owners from new!

I have the original New Jersey Title (US) from 1962. when the second owner bought the car. together with original keys on a fob with the name of a NJ garage which might have sold or. perhaps. serviced the car so it may be possible to trace some history for the car. I imported this MG into Europe in 2012. As well as the original New Jersey Title. I have the European import papers showing all EU import taxes as paid.

I had the intention of restoring it but I don't have any spare time in the foreseeable future so I think it has to be sold to someone who will finish it. It is only lightly bolted together for the photos. Please note that this is not a red and white MG. the original colour was blue with light tan interior. Sometime in the past. the last owner changed the colour to red as Americans frequently do go in for full colour changes to their cars! I started to strip the old paint from the body some time ago. and applied 2k primer.

All the gauges are present and correct although the glass is missing but there is a set of transfers for the gauges (see photo) which would restore the clock faces to new! The chrome front grill is in very good condition. The chassis is still rusty but with no holes. and is very solid. The car does roll but the brakes will need to be looked at. as it's been stood a long time. Similarly. the electrics will need attention. Some work has been done but there is still more to be done so please don't think this car just needs painting. nevertheless it is in very good condition and will make a great project. There is very little rust. just a few small dents. that you would expect. and the ash frame is in very good condition and there is also a brand new ash frame piece for the top of the windscreen to hood. The door hinges are not good. so would probably have to be replaced.

The engine is the original engine as evidenced on the TD Registry. It is complete but will need to be inspected as will the other major mechanical parts eg gearbox etc. Any required parts are readily available from Moss-Europe. co. uk . I did have the chassis plate but now I cannot find it. but it might turn up! However. these are available from Moss £3. 99 Part No: (408-710)

Remember this car is in very good condition for its age – not like a lot of restoration cars. currently for sale. which are virtual scrappers! Please e-mail with questions or for more photos or if you want to make a realistic offer for the car. The car is in SW France. Possibility of delivery at an agreed rate. within Europe but please note: Car (and transportation. if applicable) must be paid for before collection (or delivery) Please understand that the money must be paid directly to my bank before collection or delivery. Please. no dreamers and time-wasters!
