I would state that from my own inspection. there appears to be no structural rust. obviously some minor surface rust on a few parts given the vehicle age. but floors and all chassis parts are rust free. There is evidence of a weld repair on the left front wishbone forward mounting. which is structurally sound.

I bought this car recently from a private seller that had owned the car for 3 years and had it prepared for classic rallying. In particular regularity events. and competed in a number of classic events including the Tour of Cheshire. and a road trip to France to attend the LeMans classic event. My circumstances have changed and I no longer plan to use the car as originally intended – hence its sale.

It was imported from the USA into the UK in 2010. It has benefitted from light restoration in the US. where it was repainted a very period looking dark Metallic Green. The body is sound and in very good general condition.

The original 1600cc 912 engine has been replaced in the USA with a 2. 0 VW engine. It pulls strongly and given the lightweight of the 912. gives good performance. I recall the previous owner telling me how economical the car was on his run through France to LeMans Classic.

The 901 gearbox with dog-leg first gear shifts freely and without any grinding of gears.

Uprated rear torsion bars enhance the balance and handling of the car is very good. Braking performance is excellent with upgraded pad material.

The original and very good condition Fuchs alloys are fitted with ‘sports purpose' tyres. Lots of other original details of the car stand out. such as the original ‘clear' glass including windscreen. The polished aluminium window and door trims combine with the dark paintwork and contrast beautifully

Given the competition history. a period bolt-in rollcage has been professionally installed. likewise the competition equipment all fitted by top UK rally preparation experts.   A Brantz rally timer and stopwatch have been sympathetically installed as to not damage the interior. A rally navigators footrest. lightweight sports bucket seats. FIA legal 4-point harnesses and a fire extinguisher complete the safety equipment

The MOT is a full year - expires June 2014. the zero duty road tax expired March 31st 2013.

This car represents early Porsche motoring at fantastic value. these SWB 912 models are fast appreciating in the current classic car boom
