Welcome to my very reluctant auction for my gorgeous and much loved Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Mk1. I have had the pleasure of owning this car for some time and around £7000 has been spent restoring this car in the last two years to its current excellent. useable condition. I have focused my attention and money on ensuring that mechanically the vehicle is in reliable running order with all usual problem areas attended to.

Cosmetically the vehicle has benefited from a full mop and repolish. bringing the metallic finish back to full brightness. The colour combination is really interesting and quite unique; externally she is finished in Sherwood Green metallic which complements perfectly the dark green leather interior.

Recent work carried out (within last 16 months)

Mechanical work

·         Full service – including oil change. oil filter. air filter. all belts replaced. gearbox sump gasket kit. gear oil. antifreeze/coolant changed. replace wiper blades. replace HT leads (10 year guarantee) and replace all spark plugs.

·         New battery fitted.

·         Security immobiliser fitted with two keys (breaks circuit from battery).

·         Replace all brake hoses and brake fluids.

·         Strip and repair rear hub assembly. replace parts.

·         Re-gas and service air-conditioning.

·         Service central locking and passenger electric window.

Cosmetic work

·         Repair and rechrome rear bumper and over riders.

·         Full mop back of bodywork and professional polish.

·         Respray underside of armrests where damaged – feed and recolour all leather.

·         Professionally restore all wooden door caps and centre cover.

·         Replace number plates with pressed metal.

·         Internal clock replaced.

Extras

·         Period radio fitted – note has MP3 connector.

·         Purchase breathable indoor/outdoor cover.

So the Rolls is in absolutely solid reliable condition. starts on the button and the drive is as intended with effortless luxury. The Rolls drives perfectly and all elements work exactly as they should; gear changes are seamless. ride is soft and luxurious (but not too low) and the engine has reassuring power and pull when necessary.

Mechanical evaluation

I have made every effort to ensure that this Rolls is in outstanding mechanical condition and have carried out a full and extensive service schedule and replaced or refurbished many other elements so that this car with be absolutely faultless and reliable for the new keeper. The critical elements including the engine. gearbox and suspension system work with the poise and effortless precision you would expect from this marque.

The previous owner has also fitted an unleaded system so the car can run on modern unleaded petrol. A full brake service was carried out in 2011 and also a new fuel line has been fitted.

Bodywork

The bodywork is in good useable condition. All chrome work is very good and I have had the entire back bumper repaired and rechromed as there was rust appearing in the usual places on the rear bumper quarter mounts.

The bodywork has been professionally mopped back and polished. the car benefits from quite unique metallic Sherwood Green paint colour which I have not seen on any other Silver Shadow. This is a Rolls Royce colour but the original colour was Brewster Green. the respray was carried out some years ago. Please be aware that this car is not being sold in concourse condition. indeed if it was I would be advertising it for substantially more. The car is 38 years old and therefore has age related blemishes here and there. but this really does not detract from the overall look of this lovely vehicle.

Interior

The interior is really quite outstanding. The car benefits from deep and luxurious sheep skin carpets which are in excellent condition. The leather is in excellent condition and has been professionally nourished and coloured. The driver's seat has seen a little extra use and has a lovely patina as one would expect. I have also fitted a high quality period radio; that has been fully restored and fitted with an integral MP3 player so that your phone or MP3 player can be connected via a 3. 5 mm jack.

Wheels

The Rolls sits on white wall Avon tyres. all of which are in good condition and have plenty of tread.  The hub caps are in good condition with I think a slight graze mark on one of them. however overall very good reflecting the age of the car.

Service history

The Rolls has an extensive service history and I have a full folder of history and documentation validated its low mileage. The documentation includes two service books. the original driver's manual originally supplied and all bills validating recent and all other work. The mileage is validated from the service history record and also from all MOT certificates from 1990 onwards. The Rolls also benefits from a long MOT.

Overall this Rolls represents outstanding value for money and will offer the new owner luxurious and reliable motoring for years to come. All major service elements have been attended to and the Rolls operates exactly as one would expect from this luxurious marque. This is a very reluctant sale but I am unfortunately losing my secure garage storage area. however my investment will benefit the new owner of this stunning vehicle.
