In 1976. GM announced it was leaving the convertible business for good and the 1976 Eldorado would be the last factory GM drop-top. Buyers responded by snatching up the Eldo. and many tucked them away as future collectibles. Of course. GM did not stick to their promise for long. and in 1984 convertible production resumed. The 1976 Eldorado shared a platform with the Oldsmobile Toronado and Buick Riviera. Interestingly. although they shared a platform. the Olds and Cadillac were front wheel drive. while the Buick was rear wheel drive. 1976 Eldorados were powered by the big 500 cubic inch V8 which produced 360 ft lbs of torque and allowing for easy. relaxed cruising.

This wonderful 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible offered by RB Collection is a very original. low mileage example in the rare shade of Emberglow Firemist. This excellent example comes to us from a local collector who maintained it meticulously. It is a very solid and very original car save for one respray in the original Emberglow Firemist. The body is extremely straight with excellent panel fit and original-quality finishing. The urethane filler panels are all in excellent condition. with no cracking or deterioration evident. All chrome trim is straight and in very good order. appearing to be largely original and only slightly care worn in places. The grille. lenses. and other stainless trim are excellent.

The huge six-passenger cabin is in wonderfully preserved original condition. White leather is clean and free of cracks. rips or tears. It shows only age appropriate minor creasing on the front and rear seats. The original seatbelts are intact. and the door panels are in very good order. Instruments. HVAC controls. power antenna and radio all operate as they should. The white pinpoint vinyl top operates smoothly. The top material is in excellent condition. again with no rips. tears or stains and the frame is straight and solid. An original top boot is present. though it requires restoration. The red carpeting is also excellent and reflective of the exceptionally low miles.

Beneath the hood is the 500 Cubic Inch Cadillac V8. It runs so smoothly that it can barely be heard or felt at idle. It truly feels like a proper Cadillac from behind the wheel. We recently performed and engine and transmission fluid service with new filters and we found no leaks or drips. The transmission provides smooth. positive shifts and feels absolutely fresh. On the road. this big Caddy rides beautifully and our thorough inspection found the suspension and brakes to be in good condition.

Likewise. the undercarriage is clean and free of rot. We recently treated any bare surfaces to ensure its longevity. Careful inspection of the bumper brackets and impact absorbers show no signs of damage. After a thorough inspection. we put approximately 200 miles on it to ensure its reliability and the car did not miss a beat. It is a real joy to drive and the low miles are reflected in the road manners.

This wonderful and highly original Cadillac Eldorado is a fine example of this appreciating classic. Big American convertibles provide a unique ownership experience and are tremendous fun to drive - particularly since you can take six passengers in comfort. The sale of this Eldorado includes the original owners manual and maintenance schedule in the original pouch. original jack. GM tire inflator. top boot. and spare wheel.

A wonderfully original 76 Eldorado with fewer than 40. 00 miles. The body is absolutely solid with no signs of corrosion or accident damage. One respray in the original color is in very good condition and the body is very straight. The interior is in very original and well preserved condition. with no damage and just age-appropriate wear. Minor flaws include some age-related blemishes in the chrome (very minor). a discolored woodgrain panel on the passenger door. and a few very minor stone chips on the front of the hood. Overall it is a very pleasing. very original car that drives beautifully.
