This sale is for a rare 1957 London Cab.
Current events forces the sale.  If you have questions please give me enough time to answer. In the following week I will be in and out of the hospital as I was diagnosed with cancer. Be considerate and do not wait until the last 20 min of the sale to ask questions. I will answer as soon as I can. Also please be responsible and follow through with your bid. I am listing at a $1. 00 and no reserve and expect and need closure.
FYI. I have a friend who is a national broker and finds the best shipping rates on the web and can assist after the sale if you are the winner and require it picked up and delivered.
This was found like you see it and the car is remarkably complete. The motor turns freely the family of the estate from the previous owner said it ran and their dad drove it. He was intent on restoring it. It was found parked in a huge garage. We have the running boards not pictured as well as the front bumper with the rare fog light. The bumper is tweaked but may still be repairable.
The car is a time warp still having it's i. d. and period advertising still in the rear passenger area. Unique still is the working Taxi "for hire" meter. It is the original reverse on glass lens. The driver has privacy glass all around him to separate himself from passengers and the luggage area. Tire are authentic and original as well. The brand is Blue Peter Taxicords.
It is a BMC Diesel engine. It has a manual transmission and shifts in all gears. I considered installing a reliable 22RE and 5 spd. from a Toyota truck. Also considered a gasser with a Chevy motor. It is thought a glass nose from an Anglia or Prefect will fit right on. Everyone sees a blank canvas. That was mine. But you can't go wrong with leaving it as is it is a neat piece.
Interesting facts I have learned. The Beatles Hard Days Night Movie features an FX3 Taxi like this and put the FX3 on the map. Many taxi's like this are found in the United States only to have no title. As previously mentioned I have one and is free and clear. It rolls and steers fine. It is located in Thurman. hio 45685. Would make a great advertisement or a fun Rat rod that no one else would have.
Please bid with confidence.  We are selling the car as is and as seen. At any point we may remove it from being for sale as it is listed outside as well so please pay attention if you are the high bidder. If you cannot wait until the sale ends make us an offer. Shipping is up to the buyer. We will assist your shipper. Thanks for looking.

More history worth looking at.

The FX3 was made from 1948-1958 making the total production of all years only 7267 being built.
FX3 has a traditional 3-door body with an open luggage platform rather than a front passenger seat beside the driver. The FX3 was fitted with easy to maintain and work on mechanical brakes. with rod operation. beam axles on leaf springs and a built-in Jackall hydraulic jacking system. This means if there was a flat or a need to raise the car the built in Jacks were already mounted under the chassis. You just go to either corner and jack that side up. Fun to drive it has a tight turning circle of 25 ft (7. 6m) diameter.
Gasoline engines in the earlier vehicles proved to be inefficient so a shift to diesel engines were made. Earlier versions used a Perkins Diesel engine. Mann & Overton ( the supplier of Taxi cabs in London) prompted the Austin Motor Company to develop their own diesel.  This appeared in 1956 and quickly became the most popular choice in the FX3. (Like the car above) The manual transmission has four forward speeds plus reverse.
It is estimated only a hand full of FX3's made their way to the US. This makes an excellent find plus being the later version with the Austin diesel.  There are many collectors and businesses around the world that specialize in the restoration of the FX3. Many parts interchange with other Austin vehicles of the era and parts can easily be found in the US as well. Keep in mind this car needs restored. It is not running or driving. It is a fantastic opportunity that I wish we could keep.
Hope this helps with making your buying decision.
Terms of sale.
$500. non refundable deposit sent and must be received within three days. This is important. If you plan on picking up the truck and paying in person that is fine. Cash on pickup in person. (minus the $500 deposit required) Deposit must STILL be sent and received prior to making any trip. Doesn't matter is you are 5 miles away or 5000 miles. Deposit is required.
NO PERSONAL CHECKS/NO PAYPAL.  Cashiers check or USPS money order OK.  Most just send payment and balance at the same time and that is fine. Payment in full must be received within 7 days.  Bank or cashier check or bank wire OK Cash minus deposit in person.  If your game is to be the high bidder with no intent on following through it will cost you $500. to do so. I no longer have time for BS.
If you cannot wait until the sale ends I might consider something close to $6500. to end it early which at that I am not even close to breaking even otherwise bid to own.
Thanks and good luck and please some friendly advice. Take the time. Go to your doctor. Get checkups often even when you are NOT sick. I wasn't. I have never smoked or drank alcohol and always tried to do the right thing. It may save your life.  Failure to do so could see your estate sell right before you. or worse.
