Classic Mini Cooper Sportspack 1997

For sale is my 1997 Rover Mini Cooper Sportspack. I bought this in January this year. from a friend. who owned it for 4 years. The car has been great. however I miss the feel of my 1965 Mini. so am looking to sell this and replace it with a classic.

The car has covered 52. 00 miles. which can be backed up by its online MOT history. It has MOT until December 2016. Unfortunately the service book has disappeared over time. but the engine drives well. sounds good and does not burn oil. The engine is completely standard. and was serviced last year. A new cat was fitted a couple of years ago. and I have fitted an RC40 cat back exhaust to the car (I have the original if this isn't to your taste). The gearbox has also been rebuilt at some point. with a better final drive. however there is a small crunch into third if you change gear too quickly.

The interior has a burr walnut dash with the 3+3 clock arrangement. A modern stereo has been fitted. which has a USB connect – this is great for playing music through your phone etc and it also charges it. I have fitted infinity speaker to the rear shelf to replace the poor items that were fitted. I have covered them with black speaker cover so they are relatively hidden. The car has full black leather. which is lovely and supple. Unfortunately. there is a small tear along the passenger seam on the seat base.

Bodywork wise. the car has been previously fitted with a new front end at some point. with no rust showing on the A panels. front wings etc. The front end was painted by McDonald Mini's in Edinburgh a few years ago and I have receipts for this. The sills have also been replaced previously (not oversills) and the car has been completely undersealed to protect it from rust. Lifting up the carpets. the floor is clean and looks to be rust free. The car has two small rust sections I can see – one is the driver side scuttle. which is showing small bubbling. the other is the passenger door. just above where the wing mirror is attached. The car does have a few small parking dings and a small tidy up of the exterior would make a difference. The only other changes I have made to the car. is to fit a Lucas reverse light (not wired in) and original spec dealer plates.

Overall. the has been wonderful - starting on the button each time. being economical on trips to work on a sunny day (40 mile round trip) and puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it.

I am looking for £4800 ono. I would consider a swap for a Mk1/2 mini. or pre-67 VW Beetle. I am aware at this value they will most probably require work/restoration.
