1940 Plymouth Sedan Bargain for sale

1940 PLYMOUTH

 

My ‘original' Plymouth sedan is for genuine no reserve auction.

 

Any bid above $8000 buys the car!

 

This vehicle was found in a farm shed in Northern Victoria about 4 years ago. It was last on the road in 1978 – see photo of reg. sticker still on the car. Also. last service sticker on side window shows a 1978 service at 91. 00 miles.

 

The previous owner purchased the car in about 2009. and he did the mechanical work as listed below. getting it ready for the road.

-         new brake shoes and cylinders all round

-         new master brake cylinder

-         new shockers

-         new radiator

-         new complete exhaust system

 

I purchased the car about 2 years ago and did the following mechanical work:

    - new tie rod ends

    - gearbox and diff. seals renewed

    - new hand brake band with new lining

    - new sealed beam headlights

 

and then I obtained a roadworthy certificate. followed by Queensland car club registration (This is not transferable to a new owner. )

 

The car is in absolutely original ‘as found' appearance. The only non-original feature is the front bench seat which is recovered in vinyl. This was in the car when found.

 

The car has mostly original paint. leather upholstery. dash board etc. -- all show its age. (73 years!!!)

 

All instruments (except the odometer) work. as well as lights etc.

The engine runs beautifully; no smoke. starts easily. and very little mechanical noise.

 

It drives well. its only fault being some clutch shudder moving away from standstill.

 

The body is larger than the 1939 model. giving huge backseat room and larger windows.

 

Straight body with no rust.

 

Please note that during Mitchell's February 2012 flood (the first since 1840's!!) water went through the car. It went several inches above floor level. As soon as the car could be retrieved it had:

 

- engine oil changed

- engine run for a short time. and then engine oil and oil filter changed again

- diff and gearbox oil changed.
