The van will be for sale at Busfest. at Three Counties Showground in Malvern. on Saturday 10th September as long as the weather is nice.

This is a German built bus. manufactured in January 1967. supplied to the USA and imported from Olympia. Washingtons capital city in 2007. In summer 2015 was the first time it had a MOT since being brought into the UK. Between now and then its spent most it's time under wraps in dry garage (it has never seen rain). Don't be put off by the fact its a left hand drive. driving it is a piece of cake !
Time and effort has gone into the van you see today and is a million miles away from what was imported into the UK back in 2007. Most people think US vans are largely rust free and solid. that wasn't the case with this one. Since entering the country it had passed through various peoples' hands who had bitten off more than they could chew. I decided to take it on and resurrect it.

The van has been refinished in the correct period Volkswagen colour lotus white. However before it got anywhere near the paint stage. it had extensive metal work replaced -

front inner valance
both a pillar bottoms
lower front panel
windscreen lower appetures
complete cab floor
both front arches
both seat tubs
front inner arch repairs
all outriggers
front and rear chassis cross members
cable tubes under floor replaced
all floor support top hats
all floor support i beams
complete cargo floor
both inner sills
both outer sills
both rear arch tub front closing panels

Many replacement panels went into the front of the van but the rear was a different story. Both rear arch tubs are original. as are the rear arches themselves. Both rear corners are original and so are both the battery trays.
The chassis rails of the van were in excellent condition and needed no sections replaced. The underside is as yet not undersealed. this is so perspective buyer may inspect the underside and work carried out without it being masked by a thick layer of underseal. There is nothing to hide and I can underseal the van at buyers request before it is collected.
The body and paintwork is complemented by a set of stainless steel US spec towel rail bumpers. alloy deluxe waistline trim and a set of polished lip 15" radar alloy wheels which really set the van off as the bumper are stainless. they wont rust like chrome versions do.

The interior is sterling automotive and has everything you need and plenty of storage too. It is equipped with a twin burner hob and sink. a huge Waeco compressor fridge. fold out table lives under the rear facing bench seat and there is a rock and roll bed with 2 seat belts attached which houses the leisure battery and split charge kit.
Up front you have the added luxury of an Ipod compatible stereo and four speaker system. the dash also has the added extra of an oil temperature gauge for extra peace of mind. A 12v 20a aux socket for charging of phones. SatNavs etc and an original feature that is not often seen - the uncut radio space.
The wiring loom throughout the entirety of the van is brand new and the fuse box has been upgraded to the more reliable modern blade type.

Powering the van is a 1500 singleport motor. the most reliable and strongest of all the units. The engine has had the case split and been stripped. thoroughly checked. tested and inspected. Journals have been reground and all bearings have been replaced. all gaskets and seals have been replaced.
All service items are new such as ignition system. the carb has been stripped. ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt. It starts first time. idles well and pulls well.
While the rebuilt engine was going back in. it also had a new clutch. all fuel lines have been replaced using the correct rated codan hose which will last against the ether content of modern fuel. nd will not perish like others.

It drives and steers as it should selecting all gears well after having bushes and guides renewed. It has been mildly lowered with a beam adjuster to improve driveability and retain it's usability. Four new shock absorbers handle the damping and the steering has been refreshed with new idler pin and track rods. So it actually goes when you point it and it stops too thanks to the braking system being upgraded to dual circuit master cylinder. All hard lines and flexi's replaced and brakes refurbished on all four corners.

All work has been carried out to a high standard which is evident with the condition of the vehicle.

The van has 11 months MOT and is tax free.

The van needs to be seen to be really appreciated. I am based in the Doncaster area which is accessible from a major motorway. train stations and airport. I am flexible in my viewing for serious interested parties. I can personally deliver the vehicle anywhere on UK mainland and as far up as Edinburgh for the price of fuel.
