1966 Ford Mustang

Vin: 6R07A161603

Assembly plant: San Jose. California

Lovely dry state mustang. rolled out of California in 1966 with the 4 barrel carburettor optioned 289 V8 mated to a 4 speed manual gear box and brought over from Colorado last year.

Engine

Upgraded Class 1 302 V8 from Jasper Engines - http://www. jasperengines. com/crate-engines

This was installed in November 2014 and has covered 2500 miles since installation.   Engine was installed whilst in the USA and has a mild cam and roller rockers – receipt present with 3 year warranty although I doubt this will be valid now in the UK.   Since ownership I have rebuilt the Holley carburettor as a matter of course and have had the Mallory E-Spark module. coil and ballast resistor replaced as the original developed a malfunction.   Engine runs very strong as you would expect for a motor of this age and mileage.

Exterior

As well as the engine this Mustang has had a wealth of other new parts added. most supplied from CJ Pony parts.   These include 90% of the chrome. front and rear bumpers with over riders. adjustable side mirror. sill trim. rocker trim. roof trim. window trim. 302 and mustang badges. dummy rear quarter vents. indicator surrounds. rear clusters and filler cap are all new within the last 18 months.  As you can see from the photos it also sports a billet grill with aerial.   Painted in Dodge Ram green. this paint really flicks in the sun and is very presentable as can be seen in the pictures I have taken today.   This car does get driven so don't expect a 10/10. 100%. show winning. Auto Glym sponsor vehicle paint job.   I would rate it as a good 7. 5 out of 10.   I had every intention of under sealing the entire vehicle when I first got it but like a few other things the family comes first and it hasn't been done – This does mean that the car is incredibly honest underneath and any potential buyer will be able to see just how solid she is.

Interior

Carpet is new. Gauge surround and cover new. Glove box badge new. 4 speed Hurst shifter new. Door arm rests new.   hand brake lever new  New wood grain steering wheel.   Head lining is brilliant. no sagging and the original seats are holding up well although the drivers has a split (approx. 3 inches along lower seam).   Fully sound deadened.   Has a blue tooth alpine stereo with 6x9's but you're not here to hear about that.   Lacquer has peeled on parts of the doors and dash.   The door cards and other interior fittings are aged – or should I say. have the vintage look?

Nice wheels. good tyres. traction bars. HID upgrade. states plates. a few spares and probably a load of other stuff I have forgotten to mention.   Loads of receipts/previous title/ Nova etc  MOT'd until 31st March 2017 and of course she is tax free!  She is 50 years old. running manual steering and drums. and yes. 50 years old.   It really is quite an experience to drive and with the amount of looks she gets you could almost be walking through town with a naked Jessica Alba. almost ;-)

Areas for improvement

No air blower at present – I have the heater matrix and the blower motor (which looks new) but the box that holds them both in place has disintegrated (old. crumbly glass fibre).   Something else on my ‘to do' but has never affected my driving as it never goes out in the cold or wet. always garaged since ownership.

Rear window not working – Both were faulty when I picked her up. I managed to fix one last week – happy to explain how I did it if you're handy with a few tools.

2nd gear – Occasionally drops out. but never when under load.   Probably making this sounds worse than it is.   Doesn't happen much and once again. never bothered me due to occasions.   May be something as simple as a linkage. but I've never investigated it.

Tail edge of boot does have some imperfections – it looks as if paint has had a reaction with something? Pictures will not show it properly. you gotta get close.

Gauge bulb/s have recently blown – I have spares.

Advertised elsewhere so I may remove it at anytime.

No time wasters and any feedback below 10 please contact first.
