This is my beautiful Pre-War 1936 MG TA.   I purchased this car whilst I was in the USA 3 years ago. At the time I obtained a paid professionally appraiser who valued the car at $36. 00 USD.   It owed me a little over $41k on arrival.  This vehicle was purchased from the UK by a US Anglophile as a basket case in 1965 and he paid the princely sum of 1 pound for the vehicle. I have receipts. It was used from 1965 to 1980 as a competition race car. Please note that the wheels have more spokes than the standard model and the different sizes and widths of front and rear wheels as used in motor sport in the 40's. 50's and 60's. It was retired and underwent a complete frame off restoration in 1980 by George Teters of Arizona Antique Auto for his personal collection. The car has always been garaged & kept covered when not in use in dry Arizona. The vehicle was special factory built with a Scintilla Magneto. The tires are 6:00 X 16 wide trac in the rear & 4:50 x 19 in the front. Tyres are a little cracked from age. It is also equipped with a top end oiler & a 2 gallon oil sump. The upholstery is white vinyl with red piping. The tan canvas top is in good condition as is the rear window. It has recently received some attention. The master cylinder was replaced with a new factory unit. The SU fuel pump was also replaced with a new unit. The fuel tank was cleaned & resealed with the POR 15 tank sealing system to repair some minor pinhole leaks. A new battery was installed and all fluids were drained & refilled. The red paint is in very good condition for being 30 plus years old. There are some minor swirls & a couple of small scratches where the bonnet is removed. The 4 cylinder 1292cc engine starts up very good with no smoke at all from the tailpipe. The car drives like a dream & turns heads everywhere you drive it. The brakes work good.   The engine number is 1085 & it has been driven less than 2200 miles since it was rebuilt. Most of the chrome on the car is in good condition. The wheel knockoffs are a bit pitted & chipped.

This car entered the port of New York on 4th of May 1965 from London I have this port/customs form with the car. The doors are nice & tight at the body & don't sag when open. There is no loud growel from the tranny when it is being driven in 1st gear at high rpms. The 16" wheels are the standard hubs & splines. so it can be changed to 19' rear wheels if you wish. The rear differential is MG with lever shocks. The motor is stamped 17 sep 36. so it is the right  engine for the car.

This car was featured in the March 18 1982 issue of Old Cars Weekly. In the article it states that "this car is special because it is a competition MG built by the Morris Garages Company Ltd. and it was built after racing car production had been halted by the company to concentrate on stock cars. Since the factory would not modify the cars for racing. the buyer had to do the modifying. This particular MG was a special order. and everything on it was part of the factory modification. A similar 1936 racer driven by woman racing star Doreen Evans. who managed to jump clear as her MG caught fire during the 1936 Brooklands Motor Course Race and was demolished when it hit the retaining wall. Her car was modified outside the factory. "

I have no proof of this history other than the actual magazine article and if this was provable the car would be valued at some $100. 00 UK pounds and I wouldnt be selling it for less than my cost three years ago. So simply accept that it is one of the best MG TA available starting first shot and being a wonderful (if slow) weekend cruiser. It has a wonderful history and was a consistent concourse winner US wide. NB The original owner kept all his 1st place trophies but I have all the trophies and awards where he placed 2nd and 3rd. These come with the car.

I have receipts. hundreds of letters and receipts of its rebuild and authenticity.   These come with the car.

Car is stored in Glenhaven/Sydney. It is not a perfect car but certainly a hell of a load of fun.

There are plenty of photos showing the restoration and the articles here:
