1981 FIAT 126 DE VILLE BLACK for sale

 Fiat 126 'Black'

Four years ago I came across a Fiat 126 Black and purchased it for next to nothing unseen. When the car arrived. we quickly realised that it would be near impossible to restore it. as the only panel that wasn't rusted through was the engine lid! Wanting to use the parts and make a decent car. I purchased a solid 1980 white De Ville model (The same car without the interior) and we sprayed it black (the original colour) and made a decent example of a Limited edition Black 126.

It will be easier to list what hasn't been replaced on the car than what has! So here it is.
rear brake pads
rear springs
engine
spare tyre
head lamps
front indicator lamps sun visorsdoor locks
interiors from the original black cartinted glass from the original black car
Literally. everything else on the car has been replaced with new parts. bar the gearbox. which is a recon unit.

The engine came with the white De Ville and runs beautifully. We stripped the top end and replaced the exhaust valves and replaced all the seals. She starts and runs sweet as a nut hot or cold!

The gearbox is a recon from chet and toto in London and works perfectly and doesn't whine!

The shell is rust free. We replaced the offside sill before spraying as it had a large dent that had been filled. The only other point worth mentioning is a small patch on the offside inner sill about an inch square. It had been zibarted from new and has kept the shell in good order.

The white car had had one owner for  30 years on the isle of white and had seen little use. 39000 in 33 years!

I had it mot'd last year and replaced the steering rack with a recon unit. as the original had significant play. Otherwise there were no advisories.  

If you want an unusual 126. it is well worth a look. From what I can decipher. there is only one other RHD Black car in the country.

I have to sell it as I am losing storage and I have a 500 I am currently restoring.
