VW Splitscreen Camper Van 1967 LHD

You are bidding on a 1967 VW Splitscreen Van.

The boring bits. it is MOT'd till May 2014 and Taxed TIll June 2014 ( yes it's a TAX exempt vehicle). So you can drive it away. if you are insured! UK registered. obviously and i have the V5.

It was imported from USofA. and i have owned it since June 2010. I have all receipts for significant purchases.

Ok. its Baby Blue and White (not an original VW Colour but i think it looks nice).

It is running at Stock height and on reduction box's so don't expect to race away from the lights.

The engine is a 1641cc Single port engine. very strong and on electronic ignition (not points). It has original Dynamo which is plenty for the limited amount of internal gadgets i have installed. It has a H30/31 carb which runs perfectly and is combined with a 009 distributer for reliability not performance. Gear box is original from van ( was originaly powered by a 1500cc) and the engine block is an 'H' code which is correct for year.

The original heating is present. but disconnected as i have installed a Propex Heatsource HS2000 which gets the van very toastie indeed.

Interior is as follows. A Bluebird 3/4 Rock and Roll bed with cushions covered by Delilah's Camper interiors which match the Drivers/Passengers 2/3 seat cushions and the rear over engine cushion. The door cards are again covered in matching material by Delilahs. See photo's for colour and quality. There are 3 units from The Camper Shak. nbsp;including Overhead locker. rear small cupboard and a side unit which sits alongside the 3/4 Rock and Roll bed. The flooring in the rear is a MadMatz Mint blue and cream tile which matched the over all colour svheme. Silent Gliss curtain rail holds Delilah's Curtains. which are double sided and blackout lined to keep out the morning sun. There is an aluminium side step for access to rear. It has 6 pop out rear side windows which are nice for pottering along in the country side. they also don't leak! There is a full width lapbelt in rear and 3 point system seatbelt in front on 2/3 seat and drivers seat.

For entertainment it has a Retro Sound classic look stereo which has inputs for MP3 player. Aux and USB inputs which should cover everykind of hand held device you want to plug in. Its got 2 speakers under the Rock and Roll Bed and 2 in the Cab footwell. Also in the cab is a 12v charging point for your gadgets. The old wiring was ripped out in 2010 and replaced to give the electrics a longer life.

Original items include windscreen washer and loads of Sekurit Glass. Rubbers all round were replaced in 2010 and still holding out well. It  has four original (well 5 including spare) wheels with beauty rings and slip in white walls. She sits on 4 drum brakes so she doesnt stop like a modern car. but she stops. legaly and safely and it adds to the fun. Steering is good for a van. so MOT man tells me.

Underneath she is solid. much to the suprise of the 3 MOT inspectors who go under her armed with picks but come up scratching head saying how good she is. Its wax oiled. not completly but the important bits like arches. and areas prone to spray. The paint job is not perfect but i did not want to pay for a professional spray purely because i dont want to be upset when someone opens a car door on it. kids scrape bikes down it or i scrape it getting it in and out of my awkward garage! If you want to pay for one. go ahead.  

Bad bits. well. not too many actually. I'm sure VW purists could rip it apart but this van is individually built by me for me. The Radio aerial isn't quite in the right place. paintwork isnt showroom standard. the speedo works but odometer doesnt. you may find some surface rust on chrome bits and round poor paint areas but no bubbling and none structural. The bulkhead in rear could do with a cupboard or painting/trimming but i choose not to as i prefer the space for Travel cot. She has broke down 3 times. twice for running out of petrol (fuel tank sender now replaced) and once for throttle linkeage bolt fell out! (now replaced with nyloc nut and bolt). Vans of this age do require regular maintenance and an ounce of mechanical knowhow.

Engine is serviced regularly (rotor arm. cap. plugs and oil) and will be again before sale. All suspension and steering is regularly relubricated.

Extra's included include the Awning (fishbrainz). cooker and various other camping ods and ends. I have a spare windscreen ( one half) and assorted servicing items/spares.

The van can handle long road trips. loaded fully with 2adults and 2 kids (could squeeze an extra 2 people in) and sits on motorway at 55mph all day. except for major hills! I bloomin love this van and it breaks my heart to sell it. However i am whisking my family to Australia and they charge stupid amounts to import it and there are plenty more projects over there for me.

I want a 10% deposit paid by paypal within 24 hours of auction end. The balance to be paid cash or cheque. but the van doesnt leave my doorstep until money shows in my account. simple.
