For sale is a 1980 Morris Marina 1700L saloon in sandglow. The car has been recomissioned and is a great daily driver with genuine low owners and mileage. I bought the car last year as a project and it has had a lot of work done. The previous owner gave the car a respray along with a few other bits and I did the rest of the recomissioning. taking it to a garage for the more larger work. The car runs and drives great. and drives just as a low mileage Marina should do. It has had the following work done whilst in my posession:-New LH column switch fittedReplacement (NOS) Brake Master Cylinder-Replacement (new) Clutch Slave-Replacement (new) Alternator-New Timing Belt-New Fan Belt-New Dizzy Cap. Points. Condenser. Spark Plugs. HT Leads-Head Gasket Replaced-New Battery-New Indicator Solenoids-New Boot Lid Seal-Front Calipers Refurbished + new pads-New set of tyres fitted 2 months ago
It had some bushes changed on the steering rack for this years MOT along with new gaitors. The bodywork is in brilliant condition. The wings are in good shape. the arches are good and rust free. door bottoms are in excellent shape with no rust. The chassis is straight. clean and solid as is the rest of the underside including floors. sills. posts and pillars. The only thing that could do with being changed is the bonnet which has some damage to the underside. looks okay on top but as they are about £10-30 to buy so it may as well be changed! There is some small specs of isolated rust on the roof gutter along with a small hole in the boot corner from water ingress (an all too regular problem with marinas)! There is some slight damage to the rear quarter at the very bottom where the scissor jack that sits in the boot has hit the side. It isn't that noticible but it is there and I like to be honest about it. They do need an upkeep on bodywork every couple of years so it is just a little clean up and it will be looking spotless again. Still looks excellent as it is. everyone always stops to take a look and ask about it! Front hub caps are included!
The interior is clean and original. seatbelts for the front seats are fitted. There is sun damage to the top of the rear seats and the sides of the front seats that has lead them to tear. they are covered by very thin velour that doesn't really age well! The carpet is in good shape as is the dash and door cards. The windows are nice and scratch free too. The fuel gauge has stopped working recently. then again it will probably work in a week or two! The sender I believe is the problem.
The car drives very nicely. the wheels will need balancing as they were filled with balancing powder when the new tyres were fitted. although it doesn't take well to 13" rims. Other than that it drives sweet. plenty of power from the 1700cc engine which actually surprises a few! It is fitted with a 4 speed manual gearbox which still works nicely. gears select well and runs smoothly and quietly. The steering is very good for a marina. the mk3 had a revised rack that made the understeer much less apparent. The brakes work well too and it stops and drives just as it should.
I have had the car valued at £2. 00-£4. 00 and with a bit of tidying up it will be worth up to £5. 00. I have advertised it at £1700 or buy it now for £2100 which leaves plenty of investment spare to get the car to top condition. The 1700 marina is now quite hard to find. Being made in the last two years of production they suffered from rather bad sales and were quickly replaced by the Ital. Today. there is a total of 7 1700 Marina saloon and estates left on the road including this one so grab yourself a piece of motoring history whilst you can! You are welcome to come and view it. I am free most days so drop me a message if you would like to take a look. car is located in Leicester. approx 10mins from the M1.
I think I have covered everything. feel free to ask any questions if you have any!
