1970 Lancia Flavia 2000i Coupe

History of this car

We've had a few of this Pininfarina designed model and they make great touring cars but are tricky to source as people tend to hang on to them. This one was first registered in Rome on 27. 11. 1970 and is a rare tipo 820. 430 model being one of 700 fuel injected examples built. also equipped with power steering and 4 speed manual transmission.

Our car was also fitted from new with both a Blaupunkt radio and a black leather interior (a very expensive option). which crisply contrasts with bodywork in grigio escoli. a subtle silver grey metallic. perfect colours for such an understated machine.

This Lancia was a Rome car until 2005 when it was bought by a lady in Perugia. from whom we purchased the car. She was the third owner from new and our car has an ASI accreditation.

At some point the fuel injection was removed to be replaced by a Solex carburettor from a similar car. This at least helps ensure reliable running but otherwise the car remains pleasingly original.

Mileage recorded is 127. 00 klms or about 78. 00 miles which whilst not guaranteed is entirely believable given the originality and condition of the vehicle.

Body

This is a rock solid. accident and rust free car that presents beautifully in it's grigio escoli paintwork. the delivery colour. Our car was glass out. bare metal repainted some years ago (photo documented) and the finish today remains high class with no orange peel or other marks of any note.

The sides are arrow straight and ripple free with factory fresh panel fitment; opening panels shut with a satisfying clunk.

Chassis wise this Flavia is completely solid with factory undercoating in evidence throughout.

The stainless trim is in unmarked condition and the glass is perfect; the bumpers have a few parking scars typical of this model and are satisfactory.

Mechanics

Our car's whisper quiet engine has good oil pressure. makes plenty of power and is in excellent tune. The brakes are excellent and the gearbox/clutch operates perfectly and the car drives very well indeed. tight and responsive with the benefit of perfectly weighted power steering.

Under bonnet presentation is impressive with factory finishes throughout and the car has been serviced recently.

Our car is fitted with 4 new Michelin XZX tyres.

Interior

This is a plus with this car being to rare specification. and in good original condition.

The black leather has been connolised in the past and the red carpets are in good clean condition with only minor wear evident. The dashboard is good and undamaged. door cards are good and the headlining is clean but suffers from minor sagging.

Boot

In pristine condition with original matting. an apparently unused spare wheel with cover and tie down in place.

The treasure here is the amazing unused and complete toolkit with undamaged tool bag. The proper Battiani jack is in place next to it. We've not seen this level of equipment completeness before on a Flavia.

Summary

Great colours. great runner. a rare and distinctive classic Lancia with bags of Pininfarina style at half the price of an equivalent GTV Alfa.
