1962 VW Splitscreen VanWe are delighted to offer this top class. very rare 1964 VW Splitscreen Van onto the market. The VW spent much of its life in California and as a result has an exceptional bodyshell. This rare panel van has the desirable opening barn doors on both sides. all original panels and an exceptional clean underside. The Spitscreen has attended many shows and events and came 2nd in the 2008 VW Expo. took part in the 2011 Splitscreen Van Club Brighton Breeze and was featured in VW Ultra Magazine. a copy of which is in the extensive history file along with a CD containing pictures of the photo shoot. The article from 2007 confirms the VW came from California and confirms the Van has never required any panel work resulting in a truly superb original body.
The VW was brought to the UK in 2000 and has covered over 18. 00 miles. The superb original body was re-painted and the Van subject of thousands of pounds worth of expenditure and is today offered with a fantastic specification and is very. very quick. The VW has had an expensive Richard Morana 2165cc engine built to the high spec with Magnum plus heads (42 inlet. 37 exhaust) fully reworked and polished. combustion chambers balanced. dual heavy duty springs. lash caps fitted to valves. 1. 5 to 1 Auto Craft rocker assembly. dual Webber 48 IDF carburettors matched and ported to bigger bodied manifolds. in turn match ported to the cylinder heads and Hexbar throttle linkages. A new engine case was machined for Stroker crank. larger barrels and full flow oil. Further engine case and components specification includes 78ml forged crank. 8 dowled. lightened and polished. Scat I beam rods. polished and end to end balanced. The VW has a lightened and balanced flywheel. Achiever style pulley. straight cut timing gears. Mahle 94ml. stoker pistons and barrels. Webcam 86b camshaft. CB performance cam followers and the crank assembly has been fully balanced. The exhaust system is a 1 ¾ stainless steel merged header with stainless steel turbo muffler and cooling and tinwear set up is a 30 horsepower doghouse fan housing. directional cooling flaps are welded in place. all original VW tinwear has been blasted and powder coated and a new oil cooler. Berg oil pump cover and external cooler have been fitted. A Facet Red Top fuel pump has been fitted with pressure regulator and gauge and braided stainless steel fuel lines throughout. The ignition system is an MSD 6AL unit with MSF Blaster coil. Mallory distributor and Petronix Electronic Ignition. The transmission is a Rancho Freeway Flyer with 2100lb Kennedy dual friction clutch. IRSD and Scat dragfast gear shifter. The VW also boasts a VDO oil temp gauge. VDO oil pressure gauge. Sun Pro Tachometer with shift light. As a result of this impressive. very expensive set up. the VW is unbelievably superb to drive and incredibly quick and whilst we have not had the VW on the rolling road. the previous owner tells us the Van is producing around 200bhp.
JGU 267C also boasts a high torque geared starter motor. Creative Engineering  steering rack. CSP front disc brakes. brand new rear brakes. new brake lines. new oil cooling lines. new fuel lines. new alternator. straight axle conversion. CPS shifter. drop spindles. new lowered shock absorbers all round. Porsche 356 rims with genuine Porsche hub caps. Wolfsburg seat belts and new Bridgestone tyres all round.
