1950 Humber Super Snip Tickford Convertible

Here we have my Humber super snipe offered for straight forward restoration. currently the engine is removed and I have a choice of two engines for easy rebuild and a partially stripped salon as spares cars also available.

The shell and chassis are remarkably solid with very limited corrosion. the brakes suspension and suspension have all been previously rebuilt and a replacement exhaust is fitted.   A very rare and hard to find car.

The Super Snipe was evolved by putting the Four-litre engine from the pre-war pull and imperial models into the snipe chassis. Humber did  not produce an open model. but in 1948 a number of chassis were sent to coach builders Tickford Ltd. At Newport Pagnell. Buckinghamshire. for drophead bodies. these cars are aluminium from the A posts back as this the Tickford body. when at the factory Tickford drove the rolling chassis' around by sitting on “beer crate” with the driver wearing “flying goggles”

This particular left the Humber factory bound for the Tickford factory and was supplied new to R. Rowely & Co. Ltd Leicester. The Knitwear company and spent some time as part of the Alan Merrick collection in the 1980's hence the vertical side grills as opposed to the standard Horizontal ones.

There were 125 Humber Super snipe MKii dropheads produced. The Register of survivors has documented that 29 are presently in existence. Special thanks to Vernon Co for supplying the history of this rare car.

Happy to supply more underside photos and the car can be inspected on a ramp should you wish to do so. I can assist with Transport and will work with the buyer  on this.

This is a good project for straight forward restoration and it deserves to get back on the road where it belongs.

I am looking for offers around £12. 00 including the second car and all the parts.
