Hi. and welcome to the sale of this handsome 1969 Buick Riviera. The Riviera was Buick's flagship luxury cruiser in the late 60's. GM's answer to the Ford Thunderbird. It was built on a bespoke chassis. and engineered and assembled with a higher degree of care than other GM cars of the time. Buick's engineering was always held in high regard. and so it is with the Riviera. When it was new it was expensive to build. with little profit. and never really made any money for GM. Fast forward fifty years. and the Riviera is still held in high regard amongst enthusiasts for all the same reasons. A muscle car with class. Unique. well built and well appointed.   This particular Riviera came into the UK from California last year. A genuine black plate car (original plates come with it). it hadn't been used for some time and had been dry stored with just occasional runs out to keep it from stagnating. Since coming to the UK it has undergone a substantial refresh programme including a respray in its original white. new tires. suspension bushes. door. roof. and trunk seals. carb rebuild. new front screen etc. etc. As with any car of almost 50 years old. corrosion is always going to be at the forefront of most peoples concerns. Happily. this car is solid and rust free. top and bottom. No rust bubbles anywhere. Clean and bright. with shiny paint. Never been welded. nor does it require any. All trim and brightwork is present and correct. and all in very good order. Chrome is very good with no pitting or rust anywhere. As mentioned. its had a respray in its original colour. Just to freshen the car up. not to hide or repair anything. and very little filler was required anywhere as the car was so straight to begin with. As it was done in the UK. the quality of the respray is much better than cars which were resprayed in the States. Mechanically the car is very good. Still has the original 430 Buick big block engine. with TH400 transmission. Runs very well and sounds awesome. No smoke or overheating issues. Also nice and dry under the bonnet with no weepy gaskets. perished coolant hoses. or dripping power steering pipes. Won't leave oily spots on your driveway! All very original too. No nasty chrome bits or bolt on stuff. Still has all the air con equipment under there too. though the belt has been removed for the compressor at some time (compressor not seized). The car rides well. with no clunks or noise from the drivetrain. Steers nice and straight with no pulling or wandering under braking. Brakes are good. Set up properly so they pull up nicely. and evenly. There are no worries with the mechanicals of this car. and no big bills lurking round the corner. Tyres are all very good with loads of tread. Vacuum system for the hideaway headlights all works just as it should and the lights raise and lower on command. The interior of the car is all original and is in good order. Again everything is there and correct. The California sun has aged some parts a little over the years. The top of the back seat is starting to show some degredation. and there are some other minor signs of wear and tear. Nothing awful. and far better than you would expect. given the age of the car. The Riviera was well appointed when new with electric windows. six way power seats. air con. power steering and power brakes etc.   Everything works inside the car. though there are one or two little bits that will require attention. All windows work from the appropriate switches. though not all work from the drivers door control panel. The air con. as mentioned. has had its belt removed. Everything is there and could be hooked back up easily. but the working status of the system is unknown. The fuel gauge is stuck on full. and will probably need a new sender. but this is very common on old american cars. and parts are easily available. Also. the clock doesn't work. Aside from that. everything is fine. None of these minor issues really detract from the car. but are worth mentioning. This is a great luxury cruiser. from the best years of American car production. Still a very classy. and imposing car. In good working order and ready to be enjoyed. Looks spectacular in the flesh. Its a safe car to buy which has been loved and looked after. No big bills or repairs to come. If you were fussy. or wanted the car immaculate. then there are a few cosmetic things to improve on the interior. but its minor stuff and can be done as and when. But this is the fun of owning a classic isn't it? Its a very nice car. and you could be proud to take it to a show. Its priced competitively. taking into account some little jobs you might want to do.   Everybody thinks they can make a quick buck with a classic American car these days. and there's some real tat around that people are asking £10k+ for. Come and see this Buick. Its a proper car. up together. and great value for money. Car will be at the Blue Ridge Runners show in Bridgewater on the 21st August. so pop down and have a look. Any questions. then feel free to email of you can call 07900251233. Please. no timewasters or dreamers.
