Up for auction is my 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet.  It is finished in Venetian Blue (L36P) over a Linen (QD) interior.  I have owned this car for almost 7 years and have put just under 19. 00 miles on it.  I purchased the car from Jim Ellis Volkswagen of Marietta with the odometer showing 145. 92 miles.  It now has just over 164. 00 miles.  Based on the records. I believe that I am the fourth owner.

The car was originally delivered with the following options:

018 Sport steering wheel with elevated hub

158 Radio "Monterey" - 86 "Reno" - 87

341 Central locking system

395 Light metal wheels - forged

439 Electric Cabriolet top

454 Automatic speed control

474 Sport shock absorbers

533 Alarm system

This car has spent all of its life in Florida and Georgia.  It was originally sold by Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville. FL.  The car was serviced initially by Brumos and then by Eurotech German Car Service in Winter Park. Florida until 2007 and 136. 15 miles.  I have receipts totaling $16. 89. 83 for work performed by Eurotech and one other German specialty shop between January of 2004 and March of 2009 just prior to my purchase.  Some of that work included professionally converting the A/C system from R12 to R134A which was done by Eurotech.

During my ownership I have done the following:

Rebuilt the G50 shifter with new bushings. replaced the steering column bushing. replaced the slave cylinder. replaced the cylinder head temperature sensor. replaced the reference and speed sensors. repaired the rear A/C condenser. replaced one convertible top seal. replaced the ignition coil. rotor and plugs. replaced the fuel filter. replaced the intake manifold gaskets. repaired the power top. replaced all four BBS wheel center caps. changed the gearbox oil. replaced one axle shaft. replaced the rear tires. had the cruise control box rebuilt. replaced the driver's door seal. replaced the taillight lens seals. replaced the oxygen sensor. added a cat bypass. replaced the rear brake pads and sensors. replaced the front crankshaft seal and changed the oil every 3. 00 miles.  I also replaced the clutch (Sachs disk. pressure plate and throw-out bearing) as it had a rubber centered clutch and the center failed.  I also adjusted the valves. replaced the engine compartment insulation and replaced several sensors/senders and seals while I had the engine out.  It had a four wheel alignment a little over a year ago and I am sure I am forgetting some things.

Exterior:  The paint is mostly original. One of the receipts indicates that the front bumper was painted as was one of the mirrors.  The total was $500. so it couldn't been much.  Whatever they did. the match was excellent.  The car does have a few chips here and there as would be expected on a car with this age and mileage.  There are also a few chips and scratches that have been touched up in the past.  Overall. I think the car looks excellent and there is no evidence of any prior accidents.  It has always been garaged during my ownership. All labels are in place as they should be.  The windshield has been replaced as evidenced by one of the receipts.  The top is in excellent condition and the rear window is clear.  I only use furniture polish on the window. never Windex. etc.  The Carfax was clean when I purchased the car 7 years ago and so should be today.

Interior:  The interior looks great.  The front seats were recovered in leatherette (vinyl) as evidenced by one of the receipts.  The rear seats are probably original.  There is a dash cap over the original dash which is cracked.  It looks great and I doubt anyone can tell it's not original unless they are a purist.  All of the lights. gauges. etc. work – yes. even the clock.  The oil temp/pressure gauge sometimes fogs up a little around the edges on warm. muggy days. but soon clears.  The carpet is in good condition.  There is a small wear area in the foot well near the clutch pedal.  The car has nice. heavy embroidered Lloyd's floor mats in front.

Engine/Transmission:  The original 3. 2 engine starts on the first turn of the key and idles smoothly with no funny noises or smells.  There is no smoke on startup or any other time for that matter.  The G50 transmission shifts well and the clutch is easy to actuate. The car runs great.

Modifications:  The original Fuchs wheels were replaced with BBS RS wheels sometime prior to my ownership.  I do not have the original wheels.  As mentioned earlier. it has a cat bypass. but I will include the original catalytic converter.  It passed Georgia emissions in February of 2008 at 136. 36 miles with the cat in place.  Georgia does not require emissions on cars over 25 years old. It has an Autothority DME chip dated 1995.  I do not have the original chip as it was this way when I purchased it.  The radio is a Blaupunkt Arizona – originally. it would have been a Blaupunkt Reno – and there is an amp in the trunk.  Also. as mentioned earlier. the A/C has been converted to R-134A. I also added a relay kit for the headlights so that I could run more powerful bulbs.  They are modern and bright. The wipers park on the passenger side.

Issues:  The A/C works. but it does leak down over time.  I usually just top it up every couple of months during the summer.  When charged. it works fine - well. as good as any Carreras.  Truth be told. with regular use it might hold up better as the Porsche manual says that the compressor should be run at least once a month to lubricate the seals.  The power top works and works great. but I like to give it a little push upward when lowering it just to help it get started as it will sometimes catch on the header. It has a small oil leak from the front crank seal at the back of the car.  It's just a couple of drops. but it is there. The front tires were put on in August of 2007 and while they have 40-50% tread left. they should probably be replaced.  The rears were put on in February of 2012. Both front and rear are Yokahamas. but the rears are S. drives as the ES100s on the front had been discontinued. If the car sits for an extended period of time (2-3 weeks). the battery will go dead.  I have heard of this issue on other Carreras. but I don't know if it's normal.  I just keep it on a trickle charger if I know I am not going to be driving it.  I do not have the key for the alarm.

One thing I want to point out is that the odometer broke at 131. 23 miles and was repaired by Eurotech. I have the receipt for this work.  The car was sold to me by Jim Ellis with the odometer disclosure indicating the mileage is correct.

I am a mechanical engineer and PCA member and I do the majority of my own maintenance.  I would be happy to show the car in person and a pre-purchase inspection is welcomed.  I live near Road Atlanta and there are several shops in the area though I have never used them.  I will also include a Bentley manual with the sale.

This car is being sold without a warranty.  I have a clear Georgia title in my name and of course I will include all paperwork.  I love this car and am selling reluctantly. but it's time to move on and explore something new. Please feel free to ask questions.

Thanks for looking.
