1978 ALFA ROMEO 2000 SPIDER VELOCE BLUE

ALFA ROMEO S2 SPIDER 2000 VELOCE  1978.

It has now come the time to sell my beloved Alfa Spider that I have owned for over 11 years with my brother owning it for 8 years prior to that.

It was imported into this county from California in 1990 and was restored by my brother a few years later to a very high standard and still looks amazing after all these years. recently it has received a further light restoration. Being an ex California car it was largely rust free. with most of the panels being original.

It turns heads wherever it goes as it's a wonderfully understated and true Italian sports car that you can jump into and drive anywhere with confidence. it goes and handles like a dream and always puts a smile on your face.  

It has recently passed its MOT with no advisories.

Engine.  

The engine was fully rebuilt and has done very little miles since. it also has a pair of Colombo Barini high lift cams and is running on twin 45 Dellorto carbs and was jetted and set up on rolling road. So it sounds and goes very well.

It has just been serviced. with all fluids changed using Millers products.

It has electronic ignition and a new coil and starts on the button every time and it runs well even on the hottest of days.

A new exhaust was fitted last winter.

There is also a sump guard fitted. which is invaluable considering the state of our roads.

It also has a new fuel pump and a filter king fitted.

The radiator was re-cored a few years ago.

Body work.

The blue colour is such a refreshing change from the usual predicable Alfa colours and still looks amazing after all these years.

Also as part of the restoration last winter. the entire underside of the car was re-treated to Dinitol underbody and cavity wax.

It also has a pair of Perspex covers fitted to the headlights which are clear and look like new.

Also included in the sale is an indoor car cover.

The check links on the doors have been replaced.

Interior

The interior is largely all original with the exception of the carpets and the centre console which are both new. also included in the sale is a full set of the original rubber mats which are still in very good condition.   There is also an original back seat fitted.

Also a new hood was fitted earlier this year in a dark blue and looks amazing against the light blue bodywork and there is also the cover when the hood is down.

Also fitted is a wind deflector which does its job.

There is also fitted a Kewood flip front Radio Tape player with a 10 disc autochanger in the boot and it also has a remote control unit.

Suspension

It has a Classic Alfa handling kit fitted this winter with Bilstein shock absorbers. lowered spirings andthicker front anti roll bar and any suspect bushes and tatty parts were also changed at the same time. also all the other components were checked cleaned and painted as required.   This car also has a LSD axle fitted

Brakes

The rear discs and calipers were fitted during the winter upgrade and the front discs and calipers were fitted a couple of years ago. also it has Goodrich stainless hoses and EBC brake pads fitted all round.   The feel of the brakes is very good and inspire confidence.

The car sits on an original set of Momo Vega alloys complete with good tyres and to be honest the wheels will need a refurbish sometime as the lacquer is starting to lift in a couple of places on the polished rims but don't really detract from the overall presentation on the car.

It still has its original jack and tool kit in the boot. comes with sheaves of bills and receipts over the years and has a battery trickle charger fitted.   The boot still has the original carpet fitted which is still presentable and the battery is fitted in the boot with its original cover.

There is also quite a few spares that will be available by separate negotiation should the purchaser require them. including spare engines. gearboxes. original alloy wheels and a LSD axle to name but a few.

There are also quite a few manuals and books that will be with the car.
