1969 Cadillac Convertible bargain price, here in the UK

Recent California import. not yet MOTd or UK reg. comes with American title and customs paperwork.

First I need to point out that this is not my car and is being advertised on behalf of a friend in California who has sent the car over and has now asked me to sell it on his behalf.

It is a 1969 Cadillac Convertible with it's standard 472cu in V8 and T400 auto transmission. The car starts up no problem. runs and drives very well. pulls like a train and would give some much more modern. lighter cars a fright away from the lights! The engine does not smoke and the trans changes as it should with no slippage or bangs. I get the impression that you could drive this to the south of Spain and back again.

The electric hood works very well. all four electric windows work well. the power seat works very well too. Wipers. horn and all lights work. except one sidelight. probably a bulb.

Tyres are all excellent. spare has a nick in the sidewall.

Leather interior is in overall good condition. but driver seat has a couple of splits.

All glass is good including the rear window.

Hood is okay. but there is a seam needing work which covers the piping across the rear at the top. It doesn't appear to leak from here though.

Okay to the bad points: my friend sent the car over here in good faith and it was only when it was presented for MOT prep that the problems showed up and he's not happy about it as he bought it on the word of a colleague over there. It needs the hood repair as above (cosmetic). one sidelight bulb. the right front indicator lense. will need UK spec lights (set of four here on ebay UK for about £40). one brake flex hose needs changed. two ball joints on the centre track rod worn. steering idler bush worn (these are not apparent when driving it!) and some welding. yes unfortunately welding. Behind the rear wheels there are two body mounts either side. all need welded. A section on the chassis behind the passenger door needs welded. Paint is not as good as it looks it does have flaws and evidence of touching up. but admitedly looks superb from a short distance as you can see in the pics.

This car really does have presence. it is extremely comfortable and easy to drive and is a lot of car for the money. My friend is offering this car at less than it owes him just to get out of it and leave enough room in the budget for the new owner to fix it and still have a car which should be worth more than it owes. If you would like this car. but can't do the work yourself. I would be happy to do some or all of it for you at a decent price. Car owes my friend £10K+ at this time. so make any offers sensible please.

I have never ever failed to sell a car to the first person who travels to see it! If you know what you are looking for. and do decide to come and see. I can assure you the car will be as described here. There is no point in me telling lies about a car. as. quite simply. when you come and see it. you will not buy it if it's not as described. so. a big waste of time for me and a waste of time and money for you. I have no wish to deceive any potential buyer. I've been on the receiving end of that in the past. travelling many hundreds of miles to see something very much different from what was described to me. I aim to change that as a business seller. I'd rather gain a new friend and not sell you a car than sell you something and make a new enemy!! I am an enthusiast first and business man second.

Sorry to do this folks. but I must add a note here for people who may not think some things through properly. I cannot and will not take a swap on anything. To explain. you want to swap me something. therefore yours is available for sale here in the UK. Why would I go to the bother of buying a vehicle unseen in the USA. take the chance that the seller may rip me off. spend money shipping it. unload the container. pay all the duties. VAT. etc. then simply swap it for something I could have bought here without going to all that bother. not to mention my money being tied up for at least three months awaiting the arrival. This is a business. you go to work to earn your wages so you can eat. etc. I sell imports to do the same. Swaps do not put food on the table. I hope all reading understand where I'm coming from with this. I keep my prices tight so can't pay over the odds for a trade in either. remember I'm the dealer. I can't drop my price to break even then pay you retail for a trade in. no vehicle sales business will ever do that. it's financial suicide. If you want to give me a trade in. I will talk to you. BUT. my price is firm in that case and your trade must be of a cost that I can make something on it too. I also wont take a trade of something I can't sell. 'cause if you've been trying to sell it and can't. then I can't either. simple really. I prefer to deal on a straight sale basis. I write this as I am getting fed up with many e-mail and phone conversations. followed by sending lots of pics. etc to interested parties. only to find that after a few days of time wasting. all they really want to do is swap me for something of lower value or something they have had no luck trying to sell. Don't get me wrong. if after a few days of talks and pics. you decide my vehicle isn't for you. that's no problem. that's not time wasting (as long as you didn't tell me it was definitely for you then change your mind!).
