Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 337 votes
Offered here is a 1936 Vauxhall DX14 Light Six fitted with the Burlington Tickford Foursome Coupe body – an extremely rare car being one of only six survivors known to the Vauxhall Owners Club.
The elegant Tickford body is very versatile with the hood having three positions – closed to form a comfortable saloon. half open in the manner of a sedanca de ville and fully open to make a delightful tourer. The front seats have folding picnic tables built into their backs - a luxurious touch.
The Vauxhall was extensively restored in the 1990s with much of the ash frame being replaced as well as undergoing a full mechanical rebuild. A complete retrim was undertaken in blue leather with matching carpets and a fully lined navy blue mohair hood. which looks particularly smart with chrome plated exterior hood irons. The coachwork was repainted in cellulose and still presents well in navy blue over cream while the mohair hood and interior remain in excellent condition.
The hood mechanism works well and is operated by a chrome plated handle which slots in to the rear of the bodywork on the nearside.
On the road the Vauxhall drives well. The 1781cc six cylinder engine starts readily and runs very smoothly. The four speed gearbox has synchromesh on all gears except first making it an easy car to drive. The independent front suspension gives a supple ride and all instruments appear to work as they should. The semaphore indicators are also in working order but flashing indicators have been added for safety.
Endlessly versatile. the Vauxhall Salmons Tickford Coupe is ready to use and enjoy. The car comes with a photographic record of the restoration. a workshop manual. tools and a large amount of spares including a cylinder block. gearbox and front axle.
I would be happy to part exchange with anything interesting.

Is this car still for sale? I am in the UK from Guernsey end of this week and would like to see the car and try it out with a serious view to buying it. It is just what I am looking for and would pay the asking price. Please email me an answer. Thank you
