1974 Jaguar XKE E-Type Roadster

When the XKE first came out the highest compliment that it was ever paid was by Enzo Ferrari who stated that it was the most beautiful car ever.   (Keep in mind that Enzo is well known for producing some pretty good-looking cars).   The 1961 Jaguar used the Jaguar six cylinder dual overhead cam engine.   By the 1970s Jaguar's image as an avant -garde sports car needed a boost and the Jaguar engineers and designers came out with the V12 engine and lengthened the wheelbase.   The lengthened wheelbase provided considerably more comfort to the cockpit and the car still remained one of the all time greatest sports cars but was now also a comfortable touring car.

Before describing the attributes of this car. lets keep in mind what most collectors know. and that is that some of the hottest collector cars today are foreign sports cars and of course the Jaguar is right up there in the front running.

The private seller has owned and loved this car since the 1980s.

This E-Type Series III left hand drive is a matching numbers car and has been very consistently well maintained.

This Jaguar has the rarest accessory of all. a hardtop.   The private seller tells us that he believes the interior of the hardtop should be replaced.

The private seller tells us that he loves to drive this car and that it is not a trailer queen but a very great running car and fun to take on drives.   It starts. stops and runs as it should.  

The car was painted once in the original Sable color about 20 years ago.   Around the same time he also had a new original color Biscuit leather done.   There is one minor blemish on the back of the driver's seat that can be seen when the seat is down.

The owner of the car tells us that he believes that all the lights. directionals and other components are working and has taken photos of the gauges while the car was running.

The air conditioning is not working at this time.   The seller tells us that he does not use A/C when driving in a convertible so he has never investigated what the problem might be.

The private seller upgraded the radiator to ensure cool running.

Also during his ownership he installed a stainless steel exhaust.

The Emission Control Pump was removed before the private seller acquired the car.

The seller has the original sales paperwork and has included photos.
