This outstanding MGA 1500 Roadster was exported from the Abingdon factory to South Africa in 1957 and is an original RHD example. In 1993 the MGA was subject of a body off rebuild to show standard condition and then placed on exhibition in a Port Elizabeth motor museum for many years. In 2000 the MGA sold to a West Sussex Country Hotel owner who purchased the car whilst on holiday in South Africa. The car spent twelve years with its first UK owner and since 2012 has been owned by one of our regular customers in Scotland. Since rebuild the MGA has only covered 2500 miles and has arrived with us in exceptional condition.

We have photographs and documentation confirming the MGA was stripped down to the bare chassis and rebuilt from the ground up. The body was sandblasted. fitted with various new body panels and floor panels replaced. The body was re-aligned. gaps set and prepared for a full re-paint in Orient Red. All chrome work was replaced. the dashboard re-furbished. new lights and windscreen glass fitted and the upholstery beautifully re-trimmed in leather. The MGA was fitted with full weather equipment to include tonneau cover and wheels were re-furbished and tyres replaced. The original engine was totally stripped down and treated to a new crankshaft. pistons and bearings. The head was rebuilt. carburettors rebuilt. new engine mountings fitted and new fuel lines and fuel pump fitted. The  propshaft was re-conditioned. all new bushes fitted. all engine bay ancillaries replaced or re-conditioned and a new wiring loom fitted. All gauges were re-conditioned. the radiator replaced. all rubbers. trims and gaskets replaced and ignition items replaced. New copper brake pipes were fitted. the brake and clutch master cylinder overhauled and  brake shoes and wheels cylinders replaced. A new clutch and exhaust system were fitted and the petrol tank re-furbished. The gearbox was stripped down and rebuilt. as was both the front and rear suspension.

As expected with only 2500 miles since a top class rebuild. the A is outstanding on the road with tight. direct steering. sharp brakes and has superb handling with a great road holding. The 1500 engine holds excellent oil pressure and performs superbly. The engine starts instantly. runs perfectly and sounds fantastic. Since being in the UK the MG has been meticulously maintained and the most significant work carried out was in 2010 when over £6000 was spent on a bare metal re-paint as the Orient Red paint had faded after seventeen years.

TSL 415 is ready to use and enjoy and is a beautifully detailed car that will prove a true delight to own. The car comes with an extensive comprehensive history file that includes previous MOT certificates. restoration photographs. export records. Heritage Certificate and many invoices for maintenance work since being in the UK. The MGA does not disappoint and is ideal for shows. events and long distance touring.
