This is the car the Cory drove and bought on History's Pawn Stars. It appeared on the "First Lady Of Pawn" episode. You can see the video by clicking on the link below or simply google Pawn Stars Rat Rod as I did.  He paid $13. 00 for the car. but it has been sitting since that time. I have removed the Knife shifter and horn button. It is a 1927 Essex and has a clear California Title reflecting such. Straight axle on quarter elliptical springs with disc brakes and power steering. Mustang radiator. nbsp;AMC straight six with Automatic transmission. GM Steering column. Nice tires and smoothie rims. Electric fuel pump and Keg gas tank. The car has a lot of neat features. I think it would look better with the grille moved back and hood removed (easy change) but I decided to leave it as she appeared on TV.   The car also sits very low and I think some taller rear tires would give the car a nice rake. The car has no reserve as I am thinning my collection and selling several vehicles.

INTERNATIONAL CARBERATOR. FORD SMOOTHIE WHEELS WITH CAPS AND TRIM RINGS. MAXWELL GRILLE SHELL. ORIGINAL INSTRUMENT BEZEL AND UPDATED GAUGES. MUSTANG LEATHER BUCKET SEATS.   ANHEISER BUSCH ALUMINUM BEER KEG GAS TANK WITH SKULL CAP COVER.   STEAM PUNK GIGANTIC FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE AND REMOVEABLE HUSQVARNA VINTAGE HAND CRANK MEAT GRINDER (EVERY CAR NEEDS ONE). AND ALL KINDS OF OTHER RIDUCULOUS CRAP.   GUARANTEED TO BRING WONERMENT AND SMILES FROM EVERYONE WHO SEES IT.   AND ODDLY ENOUGH. IT ACTUALLY DRIVES VERY WELL.   LONG CHASSIS. HAS UNUSUALLY TIGHT STEERING AND TURNING RADIUS.   ALTHOUGH SEEMINGLY ALMOST LAYING ON THE GROUND. NO CLEARANCE PROBLEMS. AND SACRAFICIAL BOLTS ARE IN PLACE IN CASE YOU DO GET INTO ANY CLEARANCE ISSUE.   FULLY LEGAL AND TITLED IN CALIFORNIA AS A 1927 ESSEX.   ESSEX VIN# STILL IN PLACE.   CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN CALIFORNIA.   BECAUSE IT IS A 27 ESSEX. CALIFORNIA LAW STATES THAT THE CAR ONLY NEEDS WHAT EQUIPMENT CAME WITH THE CAR WHEN PRODUCED NEW. SO IT ONLY NEEDS ONE TAILIGHT. A MIRROR AND A HEADLIGHT TO BE PERFECTLY LEGAL.   TITLE IN HAND.   POWER FRONT DISC BRAKES AND POWER STEERING.      SUICIDE FRONT OPENING DOORS.   JUST A COOL UNIQUE PIECE.

HISTORY:  THIS ESSEX WAS A ONE OWNER CAR.   THE OWNER USED IT AS HIS DAILY DRIVER ON HIS FARM IN SOUTH DAKOTA UNTIL HE WAS CALLED INTO DUTY FOR WWII.   HE PUT THE CAR IN THE BACK OF HIS FARM. TO RETURN TO IT AFTER HIS TIME IN THE SERVICE.   UNFORTUNATELY. HE NEVER RETURNED.   THE CAR SAT. AND SAT.   THROUGH TIME. BUILDINGS WERE BUILT. AND OTHER ITEMS WERE MOVED INTO PLACE SO THAT THE CAR WAS ESSENTIALLY TRAPPED.   THE CAR WAS SPOTTED AND A DEAL WAS MADE TO REMOVE ALL THE BUILDINGS AND RUBBLE IN THE WAY. AND RESCUE THE CAR AFTER SITTING IDLE FOR OVER 56 YEARS !!!  IN 2009 THE CAR WAS REMOVED. WHERE IT WAS PARTIALLY SUBMURGED IN MUD. AND TRANSPORTED TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.   THE LOWER STRUCTURE OF THE CAR WAS NOT SURPRISINGLY COMPLETELY UNSAFE FOR USE. FRAME CRACKED AND DECAYED BEYOND SAVING.   THE ENGINE HAD BEEN DAMAGED AND REPAIRED WITH PARTS FROM MOTORS FROM OTHER MAKES. COMPLETE WITH PLUMBERS TAPE AND GOBBS OF WELDS.   THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO RESTORE THE CAR BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION.   SO A 5 YEAR LABOR OF LOVE BEGAN ON THIS RARE CAR.   ESSEX WAS A PREDECESSOR TO OAKLAND / PONTIAC CARS.   THE MAXWELL GRILL ALSO HAS A PLACE FOR THE CHRYSLER INSIGNIA TOO.   THE COOL NATURE OF THIS CAR DICTATED THAT WE DO SOMETHING REALLY SPECIAL AND SPECTACULAR WITH THE CAR. AND PRESERVE ITS AMAZING HISTORY AND LOOK AT THE SAME TIME.   A HAND TOOLED AND ENGINEERED FRAME WAS CONSTRUCTED BY A TOP VINTAGE FRONT ENGINE DRAGSTER BUILDER. FROM SCRATCH.   HIS DESIGNS WERE THEN "AGED" TO LOOK LIKE THE REST OF THE CAR. ALTHOUGH BRAND NEW AND STRUCTURALLY SUPERIOR. AS WELL AS STOUT.   THE CAR'S THEME AND NAME WAS THEN CHRISTENED.   THE "RUST BUCKET" TAKES ITS NAME FROM IT'S CUSTOM WATER PAILS. OR BUCKETS WHICH ARE USED TO HOUSE BOTH THE HEADLIGHTS AND THE TAILIGHTS.   THEY ARE ALSO ADJUSTABLE.   A STRONG RUNNING AMC 258 CID DRIVELINE WAS INSTALLED COMPLETE WITH A BORG-WARNER 904 3 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION. AND A DANA 20  REAR END. BODY MODIFICATIONS INCLUDED CHANNELING THE FLOOR FOR THE PROPER ATTITUDE ON THE CUSTOM BUILT FRAME.   THE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS INTENTIONALLY CREATED TO RE-PURPOSE AS MUCH OF THE ORIGINAL ESSEX AS POSSIBLE.   REAR LEAFS WERE CUT IN HALF. AND USED TO SUSPEND THE FRONT STRAIGHT DROP AXLE. AND LINKS WERE ENGINEERED TO ASSURE PROPER MOVEMENT.   A TOYOTA POWER STEERING GEARBOX WAS PUT INTO USE FOR THE PROPER STEERING GEOMETRY AND EASE OF STEERING.   WE WANTED TO MAKE THIS RAT ROD DRIVEABLE. AS WELL AS BEING A SHOW PIECE.   THE CENTER TUNNEL WAS CONSTRUCTED OUT OF A CORRIGATED TRASH CAN.   SEAT BELTS WERE INSTALLED FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.   LEXAN WINDSCREEN IS MOVEABLE AND OPENS OUT FROM THE BOTTOM FOR A TRUE OPEN AIR DRIVING EXPERIENCE AND TRIPPY LOOK.   PEA GRAVEL SCREEN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DOORS TO KEEP THE PATINA JUST AS IT IS.   THIS CAR HAS SOME OF THE CRAZIEST PATINA YOU WILL SEE ANYWHERE.   PINSTRIPING WAS DONE WITH A MARKER. SO IT CAN STAY AND GROW ADDITIONAL PATINA. OR EASILY BE REMOVED.   THE HOOD WAS FASHIONED FROM A 55 GALLON DRUM. AND IS EASILY REMOVED WITH ZEUS FITTINGS.   CAN BE USED WITH OR WITHOUT HOOD.     IF YOU WANT A CAR THAT WHISPERS TO YOU SOFTLY. THIS AIN'T IT.   IF YOU WANT SOMETHING THAT SCREAMS AT YOU WHEN YOUR 50 FEET AWAY. IT JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THE "RUST BUCKET".
