1968 Buick LeSabre. 'Fresh off the boat'
This car is a new import. having landed in the UK only a week ago! I bought it in Tacoma Washington and drove across 11 US states. so I know it's solid. When I got to LA. I just had to bring it back. Now though. life dictates that I can't keep it but I absolutely want to see something come of it.
This model is the "LeSabre 400" option package. which included a 280-horsepower 350 four-barrel V8 with 10. 25 to 1 compression and three-speed Super Turbine 400 automatic transmission.  The TH400 is an automatic shift. three-speed and it is widely regarded to be a supremely durable and legendary transmission. It's conservatively rated at 450 ft. lbs. of input torque. Aftermarket building techniques take it well past that.
The engine runs completely sweet. never failing to start and runs so much better on the UK's standard gas (that extra 10 octane makes a difference). It's will use oil on long drives but never overheats. even in traffic and when driving across the Nevada desert.
It's recently had a new exhaust system fitted. visible in the pictures.  which sounds awesome. It's also had a brake master cylinder. installed by the previous owner and while the brakes are still 1968 level. they do work a treat. though they will need balancing for an MOT.
The bodywork is remarkably solid. with only small patches of rust on a couple of the arches and on the boot floor. looking underneath. you can see how good it is. There are some parking bumps in the rear right bumper and front left. where granny was parking it. visible in pictures.
The interior is awesome. with only a crack on the drivers side vinyl seat and the parcel shelf missing. The (awesomely deep) carpets are in great condition and the dash is not cracked at all. The headliner is solid too. The AM radio works. though I've never found anything worth listening to.
It likely will need work to get it through an MOT. namely the brake balance and right hand indicator. which should both be relatively simple if you're taking this on as an easy project.
I have the NOVA import document and the 'Application for Vehicle First registration' form. which I will supply to you. along with the US title.
The car is pre '74. so there is no road tax to pay and the insurance is damn cheap on classic insurance.
