My Masai Red RRC was advertised on EBay about 6- weeks ago. The car was sold to buyer. or so I thought. However. the buyer had not discussed said purchase with his 'better half' (suicide jockey or what?).  Anyway he had to pull out of the purchase as. apparently. a new house extension is more important than a nice RRC? (In what world - I ask you)? I decided not to re-advertise the car straight away due to work pressures and imminent  MOT test. Before agreeing to buy please discuss with the person that holds the purse strings. Please note that the previous buyer! lost his deposit. I did feel a bit guilty. (Not too much though). Please also note that car may not run for full sale period; a) due to work commitments or b) is advertised elsewhere and may be removed at any time. If not sold it will remain garaged until next spring at which time I will re-evaluate the sale. The price is £11. 95. 00. (recognise a good deal when you see it).
(NOTE: My wifes Volvo XC60 is also up for sale (new car coming soon). Very low mileage family AWD 4x4 automatic. See my 'other items').
The story so far. The car has been recently MOT'd (no advisories). The mileage is still sub - 60K. The car is kept garaged.

I bought this car from Kingsley Cars in Aug 2013 @ 58K miles. It still has less than 60K miles recorded.
Recent works carried out by Strathearn Engineering. Aberuthven (Land Rover Specialists). (www. strathearnengineering. com/) including most recent MOT carried out 20June '16 (and passed without advisories). The new MOT expires mid-july 2017. Previous MOT's whilst car has been in my ownership were carried out by Land Rover Dealer (Morrisons. Stirling). So. only L/R dealers and recognised specialist have been near the car whilst I have owned it. 23 MOT's and receipts for works. All receipts for work since I have owned the car.
Recent works (with receipts); Nov '13: £810. 00 (£460. 00 fitting charge Plus £350 for cost of Fairey Overdrive).  Fit RRC Fairey overdrive unit.
Dec '14 / Jan '15: (£1. 00. 00) Replacement of camshaft and associated components. timing chain & sprocket. hydraulic tappets and associated filters. oils and gaskets Full oil and engine service. including filters. plugs. cooling system flush and refill with anti-freeze. replace pinion seals.
June '14 (£580. 00) Repair of seat belt anchor points at rear tub arches. weld. re-seal and paint.
Other works include; c£550. 00 - Refurbishment of RO-style wheels and replace 4- off road tyres with brand new Wrangler AT. The tyres have all done less than 500 miles since replacement. You can still see the bobbly bits on the tyre tread. There is a locking device on each wheel. Wheel-lock key is present.  c£300. 00 - Renewed front and rear brake pads and all disks. Front brake pipes - renewed (both primary & secondary brake pipe lines from calliper to flexi-hose) on both NS & OS.  Copper brake lines fitted. Transmission brake deglazed and adjusted. Holds car perfectly.  c£200. 00 - Self levelling unit refurb and ball joints renewed. Self levelling unit is still pressurised. which is unusual).  c£150. 00 - new Fuel pump. mountings and fuel filters. Usual service components. plugs. oils. points. filters etc.
This is a very usable classic. The mileage I cover is minimal as this is a hobby-car. and I work for long periods away from home. I have covered less than 1500 miles during my ownership.
The car will come with a new windscreen rubber seal as the current seal has turned brittle. It is not leaking. it just looks a bit untidy. I was waiting to do  this so that I could collect all the various bits (seals) prior to commissioning a full quality re-spray of the body.
There has been a previous re-spray several years ago by a previous owner. it is not brilliant job. some over-spray but it protects the body work. The paint work has also been touched up in places. The car still looks very presentable. The car will also come with NS & OS inner wing repair panels. which I was planning to replace in the near future. (OS is fine but needs brush-up and sealing. NS is looking a bit tired but still passed MOT).
A tow-bar is fitted. The associated electrics operate OK. I have used tow-bar to tow a small garden trailer.
The car would be best suited to someone who can continue with renovation works required to return car to former glory. These cars are rapidly increasing in value. especially early 2- door versions in original condition.
Any professional inspection welcome.
Please note that the car is solid and very usable and has all the necessary original components fitted required for a quality refurb. Money targeted to specific improvements. (quality respray. rubber seals. reseal. etc) will pay dividends in terms of direct increase in vehicle value. Drive while you refurbish. but best to keep under cover through the winter months.  The interior is in excellent condition. new carpets. The seats also look like they have been re-upholstered at some point in period vinyl. The interior roof lining was replaced by Kingsley Cars. Nice job.
Underside of doors and hinge areas are all very good. Bonnet is also in very good condition. You can bounce a hammer off of any part of the chassis. Longer term. the chassis will need re-waxoyled as the existing under-seal is getting a bit flaky and tired. This re-sealing should form part of ongoing refurbishment. I treat suspect areas every spring.
I also stress that the car is very drive-able as it stands and will remain so even if you choose not to continue with any refurbishment. I am assuming that the new owner will continue down the refurbishment road. I believe the mileage to be genuine at sub 60K. This is backed up with old MOT's (23- off). Kingsley Cars were also of the same opinion when I purchased the car from them. I cannot guarantee the mileage but it seems genuine enough. This is an opportunity guys'n'gals. When it's gone it's gone. The car is not perfect. If it was it would be £30K plus.
Re- previous questions about tail-gate and chassis condition. All are in very good condition. The ¼ light windows are also in very good condition. Slight rusting bottom corner of o/s ¼-light but this will rub up ok. The ¼ light latches are a bit slack and need attention. Other questions asked from previous listing. 1. Does the transfer gearbox operate correctly? - Answer: Yes. it does. 2. Does the diff-lock work? - Answer. :Yes. it does. 3. Are the inner wings ok? Answer: The car has just passed an MOT so there are no issues which affected MOT. However. I was planning to replace inner wings with new panels. I ordered new panels (NS & OS). These new panels will come with the car. The OS is fine but could do with a brush-up and re-sealed. The NS is starting to show signs of deterioration and will need attention (new panel installed) probably before next MOT is due (July 2017)4. Is chassis OK? Answer: Yes. solid. As stated above. you can bounce a hammer of any area. Needs new under-seal. See photo-link. 5. Are mounting points OK? Answer: Yes. as per chassis these are solid. See photo link. 6. Are rubber mounts OK? Answer: Yes. but they look a bit tired but still functioning correctly. See photo link. 7. Does overdrive operate OK and is it Fairey original drive? Answer: Yes it does and yes. it is Fairey. but it is not he original Fairey shift stick ( A High / Low ratio type stick is fitted). See photo. The overdrive that I purchased and had fitted did not come with Fairey gear stick so. improvisation rules. I keep looking for an original stick to appear on Ebay. but these are rarer than Scotland at the World Cup. It works fine as is. Let me know if you want more info. 8. Does the car overheat or run hot? Answer. No. the temperature sits exactly where it is supposed to. The system was flushed prior to last winter and correct level of anti-freeze added. 9. Is the car burning oil for smoky from the exhaust? Answer. No. it is not. Ticks over nicely without oily smoke or smell. 10. Is the oil filler area milky or gunned up? Answer. No. the oil and filters are frequently changed. There is absolutely no indication of head-gaskets leaks. Oil last changed within 150 miles ago.
The car will not be removed from sale until I receive a £250 non-refundable deposit. I will accept PayPal for the deposit. Please make sure you have the relevant funds available before committing. Please discuss your purchase with whoever holds the purse strings.
