Seller's notes: Original paint and interior, very good for its age - not a show winner for best paint and whilst in mostly good condition expect signs of wear and tear from a 29 year old car (no tears on interior and no sagging headliner). Original Trans Am decals in all the correct spots. Interior is very good, still has original floor mats, carpet, plastics etc. dash is excellent - no warpage or cracks which is really good considering the age.

Car runs and drives so ready to use. MOT'd for 11 months.   Just turn the key and enjoy!

Very original. rare combination - 5 speed manual. V8 and T Tops. numbers matching. factory undercoated so no holes in the floor or chassis. Original factory wheels. centre caps. interior. t top bag. paint and even has the original owners manual. The only parts non stock is the stainless steel exhaust system and a Toad Immobiliser.

This has been my daily driver for over 2 years and has been extremely reliable all year round. starts every time on the button. Not happy to have to sell. the car has done me proud and i've loved every minute of driving it. I planned on keeping it for many years and have invested in good quality parts as i wanted it to last but circumstances have changed and i don't have space on the drive to keep it as a second car.

Please note the mileage is approximate - the car was sold to the Canadian market so the speedo is in Kilometres. Also. the plastic gear in the speedo has worn out. which is a bit of a common issue with it being plastic. and it stopped ticking at 109. 77 km (68. 74 miles). I do approximately 5. 00 miles per year as i work locally. so 2. 5 years x 5. 00 miles per year  = 80. 44 miles. but i wanted to round up to 85. 00 miles as i'd rather over state than under state. I do have a spare gauge cluster that is in miles. that you can have with the car for no extra. it's from another Trans Am so will swap straight in. You can either change just the speedo or the whole gauge cluster. or just leave as is.

MOT'd end of June 2016 so you have 11 months MOT.    This car is ready to drive away and enjoy. as mentioned. it's been my daily driver of over 2 years and my only car. so it's been driven 5- 6 days a week. It hasn't sat for months without the fluids being circulated. cars don't like sitting for long periods of time.

Not a project car. just turn the key and enjoy. I am impressed with the mpg's which i've worked out to be around 25 - 28 (mix of motorway driving). It does of course depend on how much you like to use the gas pedal. I went from £40 per week in petrol down to £25 after driving it sensibly. Yes. it is a V8. It's TPI (Tuned Port Injection). After carbs. in the early 80's GM tried TBI (Throttle Body Injection) which is using computer controlled injectors on a carb. Shortly after they worked on TPI which is using 8 injectors on the intake (each intake port gets an injector) as you get with modern cars. which is why you get better fuel economy and reliability (which is how i've been able to use it daily). I've been on a couple of long journeys and it's been really great. Have driven to Brands Hatch and back and was left with more than 1/4 of a tank. It was on a display stand at American Speedfest in 2015 and the car is pictured in the the American Speedfest feature spread of American Car magazine (i have a copy but i'll be holding onto it for sentimental reasons). The gearing is great - it picks up off the line fast and thanks to the 5th gear which acts an overdrive. 70mph on a motorway is about 1. 00rpm.

Regularly serviced. all AC Delco / Wix / Moog OEM certified parts used. Most recent parts changed were the front steering; centre link. idler arm. inner and outer tied rod arms on both sides and tie rod adjusters on both sides. followed by laser alignment. Around March the ignition system was serviced with AC Delco OEM spec parts - spark plugs. spark plug wires. ignition coil. rotor arm and Ignition Control Module. I had a non start issue one day where it was cranking but not firing and the breakdown guy ran some tests and narrowed it down to the Ignition Control Module. so ordered that along with all of the other ignition parts so that i knew it was all refreshed and has started spot on ever since. Not bad considering my neighbors new-ish Mercedes has seen the AA several times. GM definitely did a good job with their engineering.

Other service parts changed within the past year; fuel filter. oil filter. air filter. thermostat. hoses (had original GM hoses. which i've kept. in fact there's of parts that you can have of bits that have been changed out if you want). belts. pcv valve. oxygen sensor and coolant change.

Original radio with cassette but the digital display comes and goes. it doesn't affect its operation. The power aerial wasn't working when i got the car. and after some research found it uses a thin nylon chord which snaps after time. I still have the aerial which you can have if you want to refurbish it. i fitted a discreet aerial so you can still listen to the radio. Haven't tested the cassette player as i don't have any tapes. I also fitted a discreet aux in cable. so you can connect an iphone / mp3 player. anything with a 3. 5mm jack. and then listen to it through the factory radio. Since owning it it's also had a new heater matrix. battery and alternator (have the original alternator if you'd like as it can refurbished).

I removed the smog air pump and pipes. so there's a bit less weight in the engine bay and it's also a lot easier to do things like change the spark plugs.

The engine is the V8 305 (5 litre). It's quick. the 305 with a manual box is quicker than an equivalent year with a 350 with an auto. 205hp (some places state 215hp with the manual transmission) and torque of approx 275- 300 ft (some places state 295 on the manual models) (this high torque is what helps it shift). These numbers are with stock exhaust. this car has a much more free flowing dual exit exhaust. The TPI system really makes it awake and it revs quick when just touching the accelerator. '87 is when GM introduced hydraulic roller lifters. so the cam is not susceptible to being wiped out like with older engines. Factory headers go into a 2. 5" Stainless Steel exhaust all the way to the back. so no worries on needing to do anything on the exhaust. Has a great sound. nice low rumble that isn't too loud at idle. so you won't annoy the neighbors and it's got a mild sound when driving normally. if you do you use the accelerator a bit more aggressively then you get a very nice throaty and pleasing sound. It has an exhaust cut out as well if you do want to go open exhaust sound. The valve on it got jammed so i currently have a blanking plate over it. The electric motor works so it just needs a replacement valve which last time i checked. were about $25 from Badlanz (in the U. S. haven't gotten around to ordering one from there). https://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Chevrolet_small-block_engine#305 Scroll to the bottom and look for LB9. which is the '87 TPI specs. Other 3rd gen info: https://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Pontiac_Firebird_(third_generation)

4 New tyres 2 years ago and still lots of tread left on all 4. Uniroyal rainexperts all around which have excellent wet grip. dry grip and efficiency. unlike the normal tyres put on American cars.

Electric windows. both work.

Cruise control. doesn't work. not sure why but it'll be fixable.

The interior is all original and in really great shape. You don't need to redo anything in there. it looks almost new. Has the original mats in all 4 spots. The seatbelts receivers plastic cases (where the seatbelt clicks into) have cracked (doesn't affect operation) and has red tape on it. Not really noticeable and i know a couple of people who have replacement ones for sale. so if it's an issue. it can be easily sorted.

As shown in the pics. the body work is pretty good. wearing original paint. No big dents or scrapes. just a few minor scuffs and blemishes that you would expect with a 29 year old car but nothing that's noticeable from more than 10 feet. always get compliments from people saying things like "wow that car looks great". I've pictured the worst of the wheel arches. which get stone chips naturally. The arches were like that when i got the car. so it's been like that for 2 years. so it's not a major issue as it's on the surface. I've been putting on Bilt Hamber rust converter every 6 months to keep it locked in place so it doesn't get any worse. I would run a wire brush over it to get rid of the rust. etch / epoxy primer and blend with a colour match to get it looking normal. Paint code is GM Flame Red (google image search). it's a metallic that looks really good in the sun. The other arches aren't as bad. the passenger side is far less and i don't notice it unless i'm looking for it. The only other thing worth mentioning is the rear spoiler which is a common issue with these cars - They have a steel rod that runs inside the spoiler and this rusts. so you can see in one spot on inside where it's started to push out a bit. It's not noticable unless you look for it. especially as it's on the inside part and it's been like this since i've had the car so don't think it's an issue for a good few years. The spoiler is bolted down in 4 spots so it's not going anywhere.

T Tops don't leak.

No smoke from the exhaust whilst running. I say that with a caveat - sometimes when your start the car in between driving places (for example go to shops. then go to petrol station). when the car is warm and you start it. it sometimes kicks out a bit of smoke as soon as it starts for a second. but goes away straight away. It's been this way since i got it and hasn't caused any issues. It's either 1 of 2 things - fuel pressure regulator gasket. or valve stem seals. I would start with fuel gasket. I already have an adjustable fuel regulator with gasket kit (upping pressure by a few psi will help increase hp) so you can have these and either do the swap yourself. find a local mechanic or leave it as is if it doesn't bother you. As i say it's been like this since i've had the car. maybe worth doing at some point later in the year. What happens when the gasket leaks is that it lets excess fuel get into the throttle body so when you restart the engine. it has too much fuel (causes slightly longer cranking) and then comes out of the exhaust unburnt as smoke. When the car is left overnight it doesn't do it as the excess fuel has evaporated. hence only doing it when running errands between places. The other less likely thing is valve stem seals. which i also have (fel pro) but it's a bit of a longer job. You can also have the replacement valve stem seals and rocker cover seals (also fel pro) and either do it yourself. local mechanic. leave it. or someone like autopontiac can do it for you. Valve stem seals are small rubber caps. about the size of a plastic air valve cap that screw that goes onto a wheel . and being rubber and going through constant very high heat cycles. they break down over time. so they need changing in cars at some point. so would need doing at some stage anyway. at least you have them if you do decide to do them.

The rear passenger axle shaft seal will need replacing at some point. It's ok. but it does let a tiny amount of fluid through. so after a few months the rear right drum will have less grip. Still stops. but it's a sign that it will need doing. Again. you could carry on. clean the drum every few months. The seal is only a few £. you just need a few hours to jack the car up. take off the diff cover. undo 1 bolt to remove the retaining pin. remove the c clip. slide the axle shaft out. replace the seal. reassamble. place on diff gasket and top up with new fluid.

I wanted to mention these so you know what i know about the car. rather than finding an issue and spending ages trying to figure out what it is. I've bought cars before and haven't been happy that the sellers didn't mention things they knew of and then i'd spend loads of time trying figure out what it could be. when they could just have told me and at least i would have known what to do to fix it. Having used the car nearly every single day of the year for over 2 years. i've got to know it quite well and these things have been on my to do list for ages. The problem having this car as an only car is that i only have weekends to do things. which often isn't enough especially when you need to order parts. Can't just pop to to eurocar parts and pick up a gasket that you forgot to order. so in those situations i'm left stranded and unable to go to work. and as i don't have space to have this as a second car. i'm in the unfortunate circumstance to have to sell.

When you come to pick up the car. i won't just be handing you the keys and waving you goodbye. i'll walk you through everything on the car so you know as much as possible about it. American Cars are my passion so i want this to go to a good home. it's been looked after so well for 29 years and i'd like for it to see many more years. The history from what i've been told. is that it was owned by a guy in Canada. who moved over here in the late 90's and brought the car with him. He passed away. his widow sold the car to a local American car guy as she wouldn't be using it and knew that he was into American cars. he didn't use it but sold it to his friend who used it for about a year or so. a mutual friend put us in touch when i was looking for a V8 American car. According to that. it's a 4 owner car. with the 2nd owner having not used it.

Any questions send me an ebay message. i can reply same day. Happy for you to look at the car if you're a serious buyer. don't have time for tyre kickers. Location is just off of Junction 7 of the M4. Cash / Paypal / Bank Transfer accepted. MOT runs out end of June 2017 so you have almost 1 year. Advertised elsewhere. so may end listing sooner if an offer is made outside of ebay.

Thanks!
