For Sale: 1967 MGB Roadster - Black

For sale is my original chrome bumper MGB in rare and stylish black. Looks stunning in the flesh. pictures cannot do it justice. I have owned this B since July last year and I write this advert with genuine regret. This has been the most fun car to drive that I've owned (and that's compared to a Lotus Elise I used to have). She has been incredibly reliable. To give you an idea - when I bought her last year. I drove 400 (yes really!) miles back home without skipping a beat and that's been the theme throughout my ownership. Never failed to start either from cold or when hot. Never had any mechanical issues or gremlins in my ownership. Temperature etc. always rock solid. The car pulls like a dream in all gears. the engine is so free revving and driveable it's an absolute joy. Handling is fantastic.

The reason for sale is that I moved to London at the start of this year and whilst I thought I could keep the car at my parents' house and come down at the weekends to drive the B. this has turned out to not be practical. It's therefore better that someone else drives her as much as she deserves. I have only had time to come home a couple of times to take her out for some trips along the coast but of course she has been regularly run (decent length to get up to temperature) by my parents so that she has not just been sitting there.

Throughout my ownership the B has been constantly kept in a newly built 100% dry garage and according to the history file has been largely kept in a dehumidified garage since 1997.

The roots of the car are quite interesting and largely unknown in its early days with only comments from previous owners to go on. The car is believed to have spent its early life at a Naval base before benefitting from a major restoration in the late eighties/early nineties. Since then the car has been in the ownership of classic car enthusiasts & Classic Car Club members.  The car benefits from an upgrade to a later engine from a ‘74 MGB. which I believe is the secret to it's reliability and smoothness.

Since 1997 the history file reflects the fact that the car has had £11. 00 spent on her with over £5. 00 on improvements and updates to achieve such an amazingly reliable and sweet drive. Large improvements include; gearbox & clutch overhaul. new ignition system. leather seats and wiring and fuse overhaul (there are receipts evidencing this).

Niggles - every car this age has some and to save all our time I'm going to list everything I'm aware of here:

Approx. 1 inch slit in plastic window on hood - never been in the rain so never affected me. Either repair with sealant or replace with new window panel if you feel it necessary.

Tachometer a bit ‘bouncy' - I have a replacement tachometer that I just haven't had time to fit.

Fuel gauge does not read accurately - I have not had time to look at this or see if a replacement needs ordering.

Slight paint bubbling where the hood joins the rear of the car - never bothered me as the hood attachment covers it and it's not got worse during my ownership.

Milometer: 37. 40.

MOT Expires 10 July 2017.

Tax - £0!

Price: £9. 00.

Viewings: Car is garaged at my parents' house. I am around until the 7th for viewings. After that I am back in London so my parents will conduct viewings for practical reasons. but I will still handle all other elements of the sale.
