Here for sale is my beautiful 1966 MGB Roadster presented in Tartan Red. with Black interior and Chrome wires which I have owned for the last 5 years
I didn't get much history with the car just a single service invoice and some old MOT's (which verify she has done about 2. 00 miles in the last 10 years and only about 500 in my ownership). but the guy I bought her from in Cardiff told me he had bought her from a friend as a result of that friend liquidising assets during his divorce and he in turn had bought her from a classic car specialist in Bristol.
He believed that a level of restoration work had been completed around 2000 but other than this. that's all I know.
The service invoice that came with the car details replacement of the starter motor. brake shoes. wheel cylinders and an oil pipe in 2008 .
All in all she was in good condition. with no signs of rot. the engine ran well but still had some starting problems
The starting problems turned out to be caused buy missing teeth on the ring gear so I had the engine out. fitted new ring gear and a new clutch while I had the chance. plus a new starter solenoid. new batteries . bonnet pull and an engine mounting.
As a result of an accident in the garage when our builder let a door frame fall against the car and made a small 2 inch crease in the drivers side wing (I have pictures). I had the wing beaten out. metal filled (there is no fibre glass on this car) and resprayed by my friend who is a professional panel beater and sprayer.
All looked good in the garage but when we rolled her out it was obvious that the wing was a slightly different shade of red to the Tartan we had used so I bit the bullet. stripped and rubbed the whole car down and then had a complete respray in Tartan red base. with a couple of coats of lacquer. The bodywork now looked fantastic but it showed up some of the bright work so I replaced the 6 piece chrome side stripe kit. wiper bezels. washer jets. both boot badges. boot lock and catch. all hood studs and slides and the rear number plate lights
That was two years ago and as you can see from the photographs she still looks fantastic (always kept covered in the garage). although now her interior lets her down. The dash is OK and is very original. as she's never had a radio fitted. she does sport a non standard leather Moto Lita steering wheel and matching leather gear knob and I did re-trim the rear cockpit moulding after the respray but she could do with a new set of carpets and seat covers to finish the job as the carpets are a bit worn and the drivers seat cover has a small hole in the back and an area of piping is worn (see picture 12).  This in no way spoils my enjoyment of the car and I'm probably being a bit picky. because I had never wanted a concours car. but if I was going to keep her I'd fit new black carpets and piped leather seat covers (£76. 50 an £199. 50 respectively on ebay)
She comes with a full tonneau cover. hood frame and vinyl roof (see picture 11) which has had little use and is in good condition with clear windows. (I never use the roof. just the tonneau as only take her out in the dry)
The engine is the best in any MG I've ever had (and I've had several). revs freely. maintains excellent oil pressure and never smokes (all pictures taken with the engine running).
As I said she isn't concours but is a beautiful practical easy to drive classic which is as much fun tinkering with as driving and I will be sorry to see her go but have promised my long suffering wife that I'll cut back on toys and finish restoring our house.  If you're interested she was also featured in 'Me and My MG' by Gordon Thorburn published by Penn and Sword Books if you can find a copy.
I'm happy to facilitate any inspection or trial and will happily answer any genuine questions. but please NO SCAMMERS. it just gets very tedious and I will not respond.
