Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.15) based on 360 votes

For sale is my chrome bumper MGB Roadster.

It was manufactured in 1971 as right hand drive for the English market and exported to sunny. hot and dry California where it has spent most of its life resulting in a bodyshell which has never had. or required. any structural repairs and it still doesn't. Because of this the panel gaps are perfect and the doors. bonnet and boot close as they did when it left the factory. The hood is also in very good condition and comes with a rear stowage cover for when it's down.

It had a complete unleaded engine and new clutch fitted approximately 6. 00 miles ago by the previous owner which I have continued to maintain and it runs extremely well. It's MOT'd  until the end of March next year and the tax is free.

It has a 123 electronic distributor. sports coil and leads fitted and the only other modifications are SU HIF carbs. anti run on valve. electric screen wash and a CD player.

The car has always been kept garaged and NEVER goes out in anything but dry weather so its in very good condition.  Couple of bad points however. the painwork does have some bubbling in a few places which would need looking at eventually but. if looked after. not for a while. It has one of those wood effect dash fascias which is cracked so would need replacing but the actual dash pad is OK. There's also a glass repair on the passenger side of the windscreen which was carried out by the previous owner and has never changed or grew in the six years I've had it.

It comes with a folder containing all the old MOT's from 1998 and receipts for thousands of pounds that have been spent on it to keep it in the condition it's in. Its current agreed insurance value is £9. 00.

Why am I selling it??? Well the mileages for the last seven MOT's since I've had it are: March 2013 102554

                                                                                                                                          March 2012 102439

                                                                                                                                          March 2011 102279

                                                                                                                                          March 2010 102139

                                                                                                                                          March 2009 101936

                                                                                                                                          March 2008 101674

                                                                                                                                          March 2007 101118

That's 1. 36 miles in six years so I think it's time for it to go to a new home so it can be appreciated more and I can use the money to buy myself another classic which hopefully will also get more use??? The one I fancy is a Triumph Stag so I would be interested in a part ex or swap with a suitable one of those but nothing else so please don't ask.

In conclusion it's a lovely. but not perfect car with potentially years ahead and I've set a reserve which I think is reasonable to reflect this. and is MUCH LESS than the insurance valuation. However you may want to spend less money buying a basket case which has been badly welded in the past with poor quality panels and an engine ready to give up???

Viewing is both welcome and recomended and you can contact me through ebay or leave a message on 07885259406

Please help. I’m looking for my grandfather’s old mgb. He gave it to me. I had to sell it in 1997-1998. I lived in Laporte Indiana. The last name on the old title would have been Volkmann. I’m very eager. U can reach me at 2196084181
