JYL 707 was first allocated in July 1948 by the London Main Alvis Agent at Brooklands of Bond Street. the model was an Alvis TA14 chassis number 21631. chassis number 21631 was despatched from the Coventry factory on the 5th December 1947 to the coachbuilders Tickford Limited Newport Pagnell. Upon completion some months later it was dispatched back to Brooklands Bond Street. The Alvis coachwork is a four seater drophead and bears Tickfords body number 2008.
The Alvis records show the first recorded owner was Colonel Erskine of Sydenham.
The previous owner of almost 20 years and also an Alvis Oner Club Member has spent in excess of £20k loving and cherishing this beautiful car. The last major engine overhaul was done from August to December 2011 costing around £6000. The leather bound history file has all the receipts for work done dating back to the mid 1980's plus lots of past MOT's.
The cream leather interior is in excellent condition throughout with cream matching carpets. The walnut dash and door caps are also in excellent condition and have been recently French polished and look stunning.
The navy paint work is in excellent all round condition. nbsp;the bright work looks as it as new as when it left the show room in 1948. The original lights have all been reworked and are perfect. The original semaphores work in conjunction with flashing indicators for safety reasons.
The original Alvis radiator cap was replaced back in the 1940's with a Colonels head design which adds to the provenance of the car.
Engine and Transmission
The engine has had literally thousands of pounds spent on it over the last 20 years with a major overhaul at a cost of £6000 during the Autumn of 2011. The history file details all work carried out back into the 1980's. On the road she drives beautifully the 4 speed gearbox and clutch operate with ease and a pleasure to drive.
