1956 dodge Kingsway coronet 4 door sedan

This car is an Australian bodied 1955-56 Dodge Kingsway Coronet 4 door. originally built in Adelaide

It had several owners when my wife & I bought it. We bought it from the guy that modified it from original. in the mid 1990's. in the Murwillumbah area of northern NSW.

He had fitted a Holden HQ one tonne utility front chassis graft. & running gear from a late 70's Ford Fairlane sedan. & got it registered on modified vehicle registration.

We drove it from late 2002. through to when it needed a rebuild in 2008. both mechanically & body wise to cover wear & tear.

It was subjected to a rebuilt 351 Ford Cleveland engine from Dewars Performance Engines. C10 auto transmission from Currumbin Auto Transmissions. & reconditioned diff housing. new centre. axles. & bearings from Aussies Diffs.   Prior to this it was fitted with a reconditioned power steering box & steering pump from a steering specialist at Reedy Creek.

We then decided to have the rust in the body shell professionally repaired. & engaged Precision Auto Body Repairs of Alstonville.   The body had no signs of damage. other than rust.

This was a long term expensive project. costing much more than we ever expected.

We have not kept an accurate records of costings. but tried to do everything properly.

Body is original except for tail lights relaced by 59 cadillac. & rear tail fin mouldings removed. Some badges & trim pieces have been replaced with different ones from American Dodges. Overall most mouldings & trim are close to original

All rubbers & seals have been replaced. all trim repolished. nuts & bolts replaced.

Front & rear bumpers were rechromed.

After the rust was repaired. around 2 years was spent repairing & straightening the panels. fitting rubbers. etc.

The car was completely rewired. & aftermarket ducted air conditioning was installed.

The dash was reworked. & new  Autometer gauges & electronic speedo installed. It is adjusted to function accurately. The airconditioning was working at the auto electricians workshop

Then my health started to fail. & the job took longer to finish than we expected.

We finally managed to finish the paint. & get registered last November.

Since then my health has gotten to the stage that I cannot finish the car‘s minor rebuild needs. which is very disappointing. I had a few problems with door locking. but a local tradesman has adjusted them. & doors now open & close properly.

There are many small parts go with the car. including a front suspension repair kit. lots of trim pieces. badges. etc. Several boxes of pieces.

It is still in need of some small work. & that is upsetting to me.

For the sake of a few small little jobs. the car is complete. It runs good. drives well. & looks great.

I have towed a 12' caravan a couple of times. on about 100 Km runs. driven to a local car show. & used locally when I can.

A new laminated front windscreen from Ralph Moore Autoglass & re used rear windscreen was fitted by Windscreens O'Briens using new rubbers.

Paint need some touch up in areas as is normal after vehicle re assembly

This is a  good driver that looks good. & will be a bargain buy. I spent far more on it than would be understood. & it is useable as is

A couple of things that need fixing include getting the aftermarket cable windscreen wipers working. They were working. but then decided not to.

As I have said. it is for sale as is where is. as I cannot offer any warranty on anything. other than giving an honest statement as to condition.

You could fly into Ballina-Byron Airport & I can take car to be tested & driven for any prospective purchasers.
