Dodge: Power Wagon Base

For Sale. we have a 1956 Fargo Power wagon! The original ‘light' truck for civilian use and the predecessor of the current Dodge RAM.

Offered for sale by The Guild of Automotive Restorers. commonly known for their hit TV show Restoration Garage!

Although the listing says Dodge power wagon- this is a FARGO power wagon. eBay did not give me the option to list it as a Fargo PW.

Our Fargo wagon was originally owned by a hydro company and used in northern Ontario as a commercial vehicle. It was later purchased by M. J Labelle in Cochrane Ontario. where it was used as a welding truck and occasionally as an explosives hauler. We purchased the truck directly from Mr. Labelle and have since performed minor restorations to keep it road legal. This truck is a survivor and also a driver!  This fine example of a power wagon features all the good stuff.   I. e. Front tow hooks. a rear Pintle hook. a PTO. and an original Braden Winch.

The odometer reads 84. 68. However we are unable to confirm the validity of this and the vehicle should be registered as TKU. True Kilometers Unknown.

The Power Wagon was introduced in 1946 as the first civilian 4×4. Meant to compete with military-based Ford and GMC trucks. it had an enclosed all-weather civilian cab and a purpose-designed 8-foot cargo box. It has a 230 cubic-inch flathead inline-six engine. a two-speed transfer case. a 4-speed manual transmission with a power take off (PTO) which would send power front or rear for operating auxiliary equipment. and 9. 00/16-8 ply tires on 16×6. 50 inch 5-stud wheels.

We performed a complete brake service. front / rear + master cyl. We also installed new tires (including spare) and front locking hubs. The interior bench seat was re-upholstered with a thick durable black vinyl like material. The engine has a stamp stating that it has been re-manufactured. However. we are unable to verify when this work was completed.

The notable flaws would be a cracked headliner. cracked passenger quarter window glass and missing passenger wiper.

Although this truck is a driver. it is sold as-is. where is. Buyer will be responsible for shipping. tax and any other fees one might incur upon assuming delivery of said vehicle.
