The Jensen Interceptor is a sporting GT-class car. Interceptors
were hand-built at the Kelvin Way Factory. West Bromwich between
1966 and 1976. The Interceptor name had been used previously by
Jensen for the Interceptor made between 1950 and 1957 at the
Carters Green factory. Jensen had extensively used glass-reinforced
plastic for the fabrication of body panels in the preceding two
decades. but the new Interceptor saw a return to a steel
body-shell. The body was designed by an outside firm. Carrozzeria
Touring of Italy. rather than the in-house staff. The early bodies
were built in Italy by Vignale. before Jensen took production in
house; this stunning new car was built from steel but retained a
similar chassis to the CV8. It also shared the same Chrysler 383
cubic inch (6. 76cc) V8 engine and Torqueflite automatic
transmission. The '67 Interceptor rocketed Jensen into
international recognition with stars of stage and screen.

Little is known of the early history of this example which
contrasts starkly against what is known over recent years. What is
recorded is an insurance total-loss payment 23 years ago in 1992. br/>after which it was restored and fell into the ownership of Gary
Crowley of Copredy Garage. respected Jensen specialists. In 2014. br/>it changed hands once again and so began another truly meticulous
restoration. Once every nut and bolt had been removed. the car was
placed on a jig to ensure the body was straight and correct. It
was. While the engine was out. it was rebuilt and serviced with new
seals throughout and the bay fully detailed. All the electrical
systems have been serviced. the fuel tank and system has been
completely cleaned and the brakes stripped and completely rebuilt.
A new stainless steel exhaust has been fitted with all brightwork
re-chromed. Internally. all the rubbers have been renewed with a
completely re-furbished interior and finally new paint applied.
Even the electric window motors have been re-built. It is. in
effect. better than when it first came out of the factory and
certainly one of the finest we have had the pleasure to
present.
