Triumph TR3A - 1958 UK / RHD - Overdrive - Stunning Restored Condition

£24. 95

This stunning 1958 home market TR3A was first registered on the 15th January 1958 and has an interesting history having been driven to the Arctic Circle and back in 2009 on a charity run of 3. 00 miles which was featured in the January 2010 TR Register Magazine!

The vehicle was built on the 9th January 1958 and dispatched to Moore of Brighton (1924) Ltd from whom the first owner Mr Stephen Morgan purchased it and owned until November 1983. The history file also holds details of the other previous owners of the vehicle. with the current registered keeper owning the vehicle since the 13th June 2004.

A professional body off restoration was undertaken by TR Enterprises between October 1988 and July 1989 at a cost of circa £10. 00. In summary this entailed removal of the body from the car. strip completely including outer panels. replacing any corroded metal. including the fitting of new floors and spare wheel tray. Also taking all the remaining bodywork back to bare metal and then repainting the bodyshell internally. externally and underneath. The chassis was stripped and strengthened to competition standard. sand blasted with repair of any sections of corroded metal. The chassis was built back from a rolling chassis using new and exchange components wherever required including numerous brake and suspension parts. The engine and overdrive gearbox were fully rebuilt. Other mechanical fitments. engine ancillaries and safety equipment as required were replaced with new or exchange or upgraded components in the following areas: wiring loom. oil cooler. competition distributor. carburettors. inlet manifold. stainless steel manifold exhaust system. electric fuel pump. electric fan. starter motor. dynamo. petrol tank. chrome rocker cover. pancake air filters. bumpers. lights. heater. pedal box. wiper motor. pump. battery. tyres & wire wheels. Retrimming the vehicle included. new carpets. leather seats. new hood & tonneau. rebuilt side screens. dash retrimmed. new bulkhead. door and side panel trims. The vehicle was also rechromed to complete these most comprehensive works.

Other large noteworthy invoices are: October 1991 TR Enterprises for £12. 00 although there are no details of what work this entailed. January 1992 TR Enterprises for £1. 28 including brake system. panel alignment and paintwork. June 2003 Norfolk T. R. Centre for £4. 98 which included a considerable number of new or exchanged or upgraded parts. to name a few; second hand fuel tank. exchange rebuilt gearbox and overdrive unit. brake system. wiper wheel boxes. wiper motor. hood. lights. switches. August 2005 Norfolk T. R. Centre for £1. 06 including exchange rear axle unit. rebuilt rear brake system. exchange steering column unit. May 2007 Norfolk T. R. Centre for £1. 68 including rerouting of fuel pipe / pump to carburettors. original fan setup with removal of kenlow fan. service of dynamo. replacement water pump. August 2010 Caroline's Cars for £1. 05 including new clutch. rebuilt gearbox and overdrive unit. January 2011 Anglia Auto Centre for £1. 00 including welding RH inner sill. RH outer sill.

The vehicle had a new battery with 3 year guarantee in January 2012. In February 2011 the vehicle under went comprehensive Rolling Road Testing by automotive diagnostics specialist Clive Atthowe Tuning. the detailed results are on file.

The history file has some 78 invoices covering the period 1989 to 2012 with numerous invoices from both TR Enterprises and the Norfolk T. R. Centre. clearly this car has had very considerable money spent on it over that period. in fact the invoices in that period that are individually over £500 total over £40. 00.

The large history file contains: V5C. Green Log Book – 3 V5 copies – 4 SORN Certificates – 8 Past Tax Discs – fresh HPI check report (Clear) – Current MOT running to 31st January 2014 showing no advisories – 21 Past MOT's back to 1989. BMIHT Certificate – Standard Register Extract – AA Vehicle Inspection Report – Insurance Valuation Certificate – Mile of Triumphs Scenic Rally 2009 – TR Register TR Action Magazine January 2010 with a feature on this car on its Arctic Circle and back 2009 charity run of 3. 00 miles.

The vehicle is in the correct Triumph colour of signal red and looks to have been recently fully repainted as it presents beautifully. To the best of our knowledge has never had a colour change. We have just had the chrome work all re-chromed. including the rocker cover. so to summarise the vehicle looks splendid.

Our engineer has just conducted a multi point check and given the vehicle a full tune up. road test along with new plugs & HT leads etc. We confirm the car is on the button and ready to go…

The vehicle has a Stanpart replacement 2138cc Engine with Overdrive that was only optionally available on the later TR3A's. This engine has subsequently had a rebuilt unleaded cylinder head and a decoke of the pistons and block.

The seats are black leather with a black carpet set.

The vehicle is equipped with a black hood with matching side screens. wind deflectors and a full black tonneau cover. Also it has a jack. wooden mallet and a warning triangle.

Inertia reel seat belts fitted.

Mileage showing 68. 00 believed correct and is supported by the 22 MOT's and 78 service invoices dating back to 1989.

The engine bay is detailed and just splendid on the eye. with the engine holding excellent oil pressure. it does not overheat and has proved very reliable. stating on the button every time. the car has no issues!

Excellent painted wire wheels with matching tyres.

Recent MOT running to 31st January 2014. naturally with NO advisories.

The vehicle is naturally eligible for Historic Tax.

Fire extinguisher fitted.

Triple socket cigarette lighter fitted to plug in your SatNav or other devices.

This vehicle has excellent panel gaps and shut lines. no doubt could be better than when it left the factory!

This is a beautiful English classic. there can't be many left like this! The vehicle has obviously been maintained and cherished by Triumph enthusiasts and club members through out its life to date with no expense being spared. This must be a blue chip investment and is certainly better than having your money earning very little interest in the bank!

The vehicle is on the button and ready for those European tours. rallies or car shows. even another trip to the Arctic Circle if you are brave enough! It is by far the best driving TR3A we have had the pleasure in offering and feels much faster. particularly as it has the optional 2138cc engine. It is also very well detailed in regards the undercarriage. engine. boot & body…
