An unusual. appealing and practical approach to open motoring. with an open-top. relatively draught-free option. as well as a fully closed. water-tight configuration for less clement conditions. The roof is easy and quick for one person to raise or lower by use of a crank handle. giving instant transformation when the weather changes. There is no division. as with a traditional limousine. but at the same time it has occasional seats. adding to the car's versatility. Nice touches include art deco door handles. twin side-mounted spare wheels. attractive cast aluminium number plates and a fishtail exhaust. The car was with one family for 58 years. from 1957 to 2014! Since then. the car has had an engine refurbishment. including the fitting of a brand new cylinder head. Other recent work. confirmed by invoices. includes a new fuel pump. new tyres. etc. and various other documentation covering the last thirty years or so is also in the file that comes with the car. as well as a buff log book from 1952. Running well. driving nicely. offered newly MoT tested.

During their time at Mears Ashby events included “The trial of Sarah Bradshaw” who was alleged to have been a witch & from 1794 to 1796 Robert Stockdale & his pupil John Bacon Sawrey Morritt (heir to Rokeby Park) took a “Grand Tour” travelling through Austria. Hungary. Turkey. Greece. and Italy - the pair were later joined by Rev Dalloway to assist in their search for the location of the fabled City of Troy. In the mid 1800s the architect Anthony Salvin (known for his work on Windsor Castle & Tower of London) was commissioned to extend Mears Ashby Hall by adding another wing. Careers of the Stockdale family were in the areas of Religion. Army. Law & Land. The 3rd owner of GUL76 was Samuel Page Steavenson about whom little can be found but his Uncle Arthur was a Director of Bearpark Coal & Coke Co. a Doctor and in retirement became Master of Old Berkshire Hunt with whom the Duke of Windsor hunted!. In 1957 GUL57 joined her 4th family with whom she remained until 2012 – in 1978 when E H J Humphreys of Canford Cliffs died the car was inherited by his son-in-law Tom Craig (an inventor of aircraft equipment) who in turn left the car to his widow. the daughter of E Humphreys.
