This 1995 Dodge Viper RT/10 was bought new by it's first and only owner at Big 4 Motors in Calgary Alberta for $77. 65. 55 CAD on January 19th 1996. Allan is local car collector with a taste for high octane and horsepower. The cover of Motor Trend's “Raw Power” featured a black RT/10 with the Hennessey Venom 600 upgrades. The performance statistics were staggering. beating a stock Ferrari F50 which retailed for $500. 00 USD at the time. It was irresistable!
Allan struck a deal with John Hennessey in January of 1997 and sent the car down for the "Venom 600 System” at a cost of $29. 00 USD. The invoices show two Vipers going down to Hennessey Motorsports Inc. Allan's friend also had a 95 Viper RT/10. in Red. and wanted the Venom 600 System. Hennessey's work was so highly regarded that Chrysler continued to honor their warranty even after the Venom upgrades. Hennessey additionally warrantied their engine work and he received many more cars than he could return to customers in a timely fashion.
Allan's Viper remained with Hennessey for longer than originally quoted. Hennessey and his two mechanics were backed up with a slew of Escalades and Vipers that had been sent down to him. Determined to have his car back. Allan flew down to Houston and spent a month living with Hennessey to supervise the completion of his car. The only Hennessey modifications are to the engine. with the optional carbon fiber gear shift lever and double bubble hard top.
It comes complete with its original bill of sale and a copy of the NVIS invoice from Chrysler Canada. The Hennessey introductory package and invoices are also with the car. as are a copy of Sports Car International AND a Motor Trend Top Speed Test with a Venom 600 featured on the cover. an original Dodge Viper sales brochure. original book pouch. books. warranty and information on the Bell radar detector system. and an entire binder from Hennessey with instructions on care. Additional items with the car are a Dodge Viper baseball hat with snake logo. Hennessey double bubble hard top and soft side windows. soft top. and soft cockpit cover still in original packaging. spare tire. original floor mats and Venom floor mats.
Allan drove #021 home from Houston. After a very careful drive to break in the engine they detoured through Utah. In the salt flats he claims to have achieved hit 180mph. but didn't dare to push it further. That kind of speed “makes telephone poles look like a picket fence” and even under the right conditions is extremely dangerous. We don't encourage anyone to drive in that manner without professional supervision and necessary safety equipment. Since then he rarely used the Viper other than a few trips from Vancouver to Calgary and back. The mileage is all highway and only in the summers.
"Never drive when the roads are wet. Just park it and take a cab home. You will not live to talk about it. ” - John Hennessey on the Venom 600
The photographs show condition accurately. The paint on the vehicle is completely original and in excellent condition with the exception of the trunk lid. which has some imperfections. This is apparently common with early Vipers and according to Chrysler was not worth rectifying as it is a well-known production defect and would be a shame to repaint the car. This Viper has only 10k miles and has been garaged it's entire life. The paint is original only once and we agree with their opinion on keeping it that way. Please note this is only on the trunk lid and not anywhere else on the vehicle.
