1967 Jaguar E-Type Convertible Series I Restored by Best of Britain Beige OTS

Lamborghini Houston proudly offers our superb 1967 Jaguar E-Type (XK-E) Convertible Series I.   This is Chassis Serial Number 1E 15857. a very late Left-Hand-Drive US-spec open two-seater (OTS) Series I. finished in its original Beige with Black folding convertible top over Black leather and as originally factory configured with chrome wire wheels (although original whitewall tires have been replaced). tinted glass. bumper guards. seat belts. and hazard-warning lights.   It is a complete numbers-matching example with its original 265hp 4. 2L DOHC Inline 6-cylinder engine # 7E 13892-9 and fully synchromesh 4-speed manual gearbox # EJ 15322.  


This 1967 E-Type Convertible has had just 3 owners and traveled a total of just 37. 89 miles since new.   It was delivered new on September 2. 1968 to Vernon Johnson of Temple City. California.   The original dealer. Marquis Motors of Laguna Beach. CA. installed a Blaupunkt stereo which remains and functions to this day.   Mr. Johnson drove the car just 24. 00 miles over the next 12 years.   The second owner was James Mason of Bakersfield. California who also drove the car quite sparingly.   By August 1991. it had recorded just 34. 56 miles.   The car was then purchased from Mr. Mason’s estate by its third and most recent owner.  


Beginning in 1998. the car received a bare-shell cosmetic and mechanical restoration over a five-year period by E-Type restoration specialists Bruce and Mark Alsop of Best of Britain in Vermont.   The mechanical work included an overhaul of the engine. transmission. brakes. suspension. interior leather. and installation of new convertible top.   The engine bay. various under-hood components. and exhaust system were more recently freshened in 2012.   Four new tires were also mounted in January 2013.  


This Jaguar is complete with the original window sticker. the original book pouch containing the owner’s operating manual. original manufacturer’s warranty card. original maintenance voucher book. Blaupunkt stereo manual. factory servicing and repair manual. a stack of receipts documenting its maintenance history. a photo album with set of receipts completely documenting the restoration process by Best of Britain. and the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate verifying its numbers. original configuration. and original owner from their archives.   The jack with bag and Thor hammer are also included.   


This is an excellent opportunity to acquire such a complete. beautiful example of the highly desirable late Series I E-Type Convertible.   Restorations have become increasingly (almost prohibitively) expensive.   The father and son team of Best of Britain are experts who have been restoring these Jaguars since the early 1980’s.   Their mechanical work as well as body and paint expertise is of the highest quality.   This 1967 Jaguar E-Type Convertible Series I will make an excellent addition to any collection.
