The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 to
create a combination of good looks. high performance and
competitive pricing. Established as an icon of 1960's motoring and
a great success for Jaguar. more than 70. 00 E-Types were sold
during its lifespan. The Series I was introduced. initially for
export only. in March 1961. with the domestic market launch coming
four months later. in July of that year. The cars at this time used
the triple SU carburetted. 3. 8-Litre six cylinder XK engine from
the XK150's. The first 300 cars built had flat floors and external
bonnet latches and are considered to be rare and more valuable.
After that. the floors were dished to provide more leg room and the
bonnet latches moved inside the car. whilst underneath the bonnet. br/>the engine size increased to 4. 2-Litres in October 1964.

This lefthand drive 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I Coupé was
purchased by the vendor in Australia through an agent who purchased
classic cars in the USA. This Jaguar was located in California and
was shipped to Australia in 2007 arriving in Adelaide on the 12th
December. The E-Type is a numbers matching car as shown in the
Heritage Certificate from Jaguar and was fitted with a Webasto
Sunroof from new. For the next three years the vendor started to
purchase parts for this car over the internet including five new
wire wheels. full length floor panels. aluminium radiator with
electric fan. various body panels including new sills. glass
windscreen washer bottle. a retro radio with Bluetooth and rear
lights; a complete ground up restoration was then started by three
specialist companies in the Adelaide Hills. Due to the vendor
moving to China for his work he was in no rush to complete this
restoration. The engine. gearbox and differential were completely
rebuilt by Car Craft in Mount Barker. the body with the new full
length floors was restored by Autocar Creations in Strathalbyn and
the new leather interior was carried out by a specialist upholstery
company. Header Tarps. in Mannum. Only two modifications were made
to improve the driving comfort with the addition of an aluminium
radiator with an electric cooling fan and electronic ignition. The
restoration was completed on the E-Type at the end of 2014 but the
owner has extended his contract in China for another three years so
he has reluctantly decided to sell this stunning coupé. The car was
never registered in Australia and was only driven approximately
60km from Mount Barker to Adelaide where it was stored for six
months before being shipped to England arriving in October this
year. Finished in its original colour of Opalescent Golden Sand
with light tan leather interior. this beautifully restored E-Type
is fully UK taxes paid. NOVA certificated and comes supplied with a
copy of the Jaguar Heritage certificate and a UK MoT test
certificate which expires in October 2016. Offering the new owner
one of the best examples of iconic British motoring history. this
head turner can only be described as being in exceptional condition
throughout and should also prove to be a solid. blue-chip
investment for the future.
