1966 Riva Super Florida

We are fond of Riva's here and have recently sold a couple of Juniors. but this is a step up from those. it is a 1966 Riva Super Florida.

Built by Cantieri RIVA. Sarnico. Italy in 1966. being hull number 956 from a production run of 1027. of mahogany. with seam battened sides and double diagonal bottom. the outside veneer laid fore/aft. Bright varnished to the waterline and white below with a blue boot top. fitted with chrome rubbing strips.

Engine: Original Chris Craft 185hp V8 inboard petrol. fully refurbished. Instrumentation includes speedometer with engine hours. oil pressure and water temperature gauges. ammeter. fuel gauge.

General arrangement: Foredeck of laid mahogany planking with wide mahogany covering board. fitted with chrome bow cap. stem band. fairleads and navigation lamp and burgee staff. horn and mooring cleat. Curved split windscreen on chrome frame with spotlight and windscreen wiper before cockpit. lined in varnished mahogany with side stowage bins. and a full-width. split front bench seat re-upholstered in Turquoise/cream vinyl to original 1960's specification. Wheel steering to port. with curved horn ring and column gear shift. hand throttle to port side. Narrow bridge deck. Aft cockpit. lined in mahogany with cream vinyl edging. Central lifting engine cover. Padded and upholstered sun lounger folds to form aft bench seat. with upholstered seat back in turquoise/cream vinyl. Short aft deck with laid planks. fitted with chrome mooring cleats. fairleads. navigation light. fuel filler cap and ensign socket. Inventory includes chrome ski pole. ensign staff. mahogany bathing ladder. anchor and warp. fenders and RIVA cover. On original RIVA wooden cradle. mounted on a road trailer.

The Super Florida was introduced in 1953. a year after the Florida. RIVAs take on the American ski-boat concept. The design gradually evolved and grew. from 19ft. 1in. (5. 82m) long originally to 20ft. 6in. (6. 27m) at the finish. the earlier 185hp Chris Craft engines were finally replaced by RIVAs own 220hp Crusader units. Production ceased in 1969 with just over 1000 craft being launched.

One of the last Super Floridas to be made. this splendid craft was imported into the UK in 2015. having been sold new by the importer Monaco Boat Services to a Parisian M. Fluxmon. The boat was delivered to Paris and named "Cineros". In recent years the boat has resided on the Riviera. La Napoule. to be exact and had a full recommissioning in 2010 with report. The Boat is ready for use. has many recent invoices and presents as an older restoration with localised delamination to the varnish in some areas but in very good general condition. with the mechanics being excellent.

This is a rare opportunity to buy one of the larger single engined Rivas from the golden age. ready for use or show.
