1972 Lotus Europa Twin Cam "BIG VALVE",2 owrs, 36 old mots ,only 72K PX WELCOME,

Probably one of the most genuine unrestored Lotus Europas left !
There is always a debate as whether to buy restored or original. in my opinion an unrestored car is a far better prospect as there are not gallons of cellulose paint and filler hiding a multitude of sins.
This wonderful 1972 Europa is still wearing the majority of its original Lime Green paint and is still fitted with its original Oatmeal interior which was a £10 option !!
The Europa was sold new in January 1972 to a Mr Noel Pollard from Stockport who only kept it for 21 months and it was then supplied by Mangoletsi Holdings Ltd in October 1973 to its second owner a Mr Peter Clare who kept the car for an amazing 40 Years up until it was sold to its last registered keeper in April 2013 a Mrs Mandy Whiteland.
The V5 only shows 1 previous owner and shows that the second owner Mr Clare as purchasing it when new. this is presumably an oversight from DVLA but as the documentation shows it is just three owners from new but basically one owner for the vast majority of its life.
Mr clare decided in 1981 to upgrade the original twin cam engine to a "BIG VALVE" Lotus engine which dramatically improves the performance giving it a 0-60 time of just short of 6 seconds and a top speed of 123 MPH. this work was carried out via Christopher Neil Sportscars (Lotus dealers) with full documentation. this was carried out at 59000 miles.
The engine is absolutley "on the button" as it has only covered just over 12000 miles. the Dell'Orto carbs are perfectly balanced and the exhaust is a custom made 4 into 1 with stainless back box.
The Europa has just had a service. new Sundym windscreen and new brakes all round. the interior is all original and the Oatmeal seats and Tobacco brow carpets are in superb order. the alloys have been shot blasted and powder coated and professionally re finished in gold to match the painted coach lines.
The panel fitment is superb and all panels are original and the paintwork is on the whole original. there are minor imperfections all of which are in keeping with its age and mileage and there is nothing that requires any rectification.
Having owned a few of these over the years this is by far the best and most honest car that I have had the pleasure in selling.
